  1. Parul Singh

Abstract

AbstractNuclear safety is defined by the International Atomic Energy Agency as “The achievement of proper operating conditions, resulting in protection of workers and environment from hazardous radiations”. The nuclear industry has continuously improved its safety standards and several regulatory boards monitor the nuclear setups to maintain the safety. However, many instances the safety lapse has resulted in disasters. The IAEA works in conjunction with member states and partners worldwide to promote safety and peaceful nuclear technologies. The safety principles for nuclear installations are amended in the IAEA safety series 110. The obligations cover the regulatory, technical and legislative framework, quality assurance, etc. The convention was amended by Vienna declaration in 2015. Many nations also have their own regulatory boards monitoring the safety and smooth running of the nuclear plants. Keywords: Nuclear safety, disaster, regulatory board, harmful, radiationsCite this ArticleParul Singh.
