Nuclear Medicine: A Boon to Society
Abstract: AbstractNuclear medicine is a rapidly developing branch of medicine which uses radioisotopes for diagnostic imaging and therapy. All nuclear medicine investigations and therapeutic procedures require highly specialized equipment. Nuclear imaging is a method of producing images by detecting radiation from different parts of the body after a radioactive tracer material is administered. The images are digitally generated on a computer and transferred to a nuclear medicine physician, who interprets the …

Six Quark Cluster Formation Effects on the Magnetic Moments of Mirror Nuclei with Closed Core+One Nucleon
Abstract: AbstractThe magnetic moments of mirror nuclei with closed core+one nucleon with A=13, 17, 29, 33, 41 (13C6~14N7, 17O8~17F9, 29Si14~29P15, 33S16~33Cl17, 41Ca20~41Sc21) have been estimated in the framework of hybrid quark model. The correction to the magnetic moment due to the six-quark cluster formation effects as estimated in the present work are compared with various other corrections. It is observed that the quark cluster formation effects make a sizable contribution to …

Utilization of Gaseous Core Based Nuclear Reactors for Efficient Power Production and Nuclear Waste Management
Abstract: AbstractAs long as the demand for worldwide energy continues, the need for nuclear energy will always be in the forefront of the energy sector. However, Fukushima tribulations require us to look for safer and more efficient ways of designing nuclear power plants. Hence, it is essential to look for advanced ways of creating special types of nuclear reactors that work outside conventional parameters. Gas core nuclear reactors are such reactors …

Nuclear Safety and Regulation: A Review
Abstract: AbstractNuclear safety is defined by the International Atomic Energy Agency as “The achievement of proper operating conditions, resulting in protection of workers and environment from hazardous radiations”. The nuclear industry has continuously improved its safety standards and several regulatory boards monitor the nuclear setups to maintain the safety. However, many instances the safety lapse has resulted in disasters. The IAEA works in conjunction with member states and partners worldwide to …
