Abstract

Ultra wide band frequency allocation of 5.3–9.2 GHz spectrum by Federal Communications Commission (FCC) presented myriad applications of exciting opportunities and challenges for design in the communication arena, including antenna design. The compact antenna designs with operating bandwidths of more than 100% are a challenging demand for the current wireless scenario. This can be easily met with fractal boundaries by using wide slot antennas. In this paper, fractal slot antenna design based upon Koch Snowflake geometry is presented which have good radiation efficiency over the UWB frequency range. The tuning stub is used with the coplanar waveguide port for feeding radiating material which helps in achieving the desired bandwidth. The antenna geometries have been carried out using CST Microwave studio software version 2014. The compact antenna geometry is designed and the simulation results are being obtained and compared with the measured results.
