Abstract

Waste management is a great challenge for any country in current and future aspect. Solid waste generates from different industry i.e. stone, marble, coal, tire etc. are major issues in India. These wastes create major environmental & health problems for surrounding people. This study represents the utilization of waste kota stone slurry and marble powder as sand & cement replacing material with 15% fly ash of class-C. Waste kota stone slurry was collected from stone industry and marble powder acquired from marble industry, marble shops, nearby area etc. The percentages of waste kota stone slurry were used in 10,20,30,40 & 50% respectively as a sand and marble were used in 5, 10, 15, 20 & 25% respectively as cement. Workability of control and blended mixes were evaluated by slump cone test. Mechanical properties were examined through compressive strength, flexural strength & splitting tensile strength. Durability performances were checked in terms of porosity, water absorption and rapid chloride penetration test. Results indicated that mechanical properties were enhanced due to pozzolanic and filler effect of glass & marble fines. Porosity and water absorptions of slurry marble added concrete were reduced due to its packing density. It can be concluded that 10% marble powder with 30% kota stone slurry can be used with 15% flyash mixed PPC cement.
