Studies on the Growth Promoting Effects of Coconut Leaf Vermiwash on the Germination of Black Gram (Vigna mungo L.)By S Priya, R. Ezhilarasi
Abstract: Coconut leaf vermiwash (CLV) was produced from actively vermicomposting coconut leaf litter + cow dung substrate (5:1 W/W) basis by Eudrilus fetida. It significantly increased the growth of Vigna mungo at 1:5, 1:10, and 1:20 dilution in trails. Increases the growth was recorded at 1:5 dilution of coconut leaf vermiwash. Increasing the population of the soil microorganisms, particularly plant beneficial ones, and their activities which would have facilitated increased uptake …

Production of Homemade Wine from Sweet Potato (Ipomoea batatas) and A Comparative Study of Them over Commercial WineBy S Priya, R. Kavyapraba
Abstract: Wine can act as a nutrient supplement for seasonal fruits and vegetables throughout the year. Fermentation is carried out with Saccharomyces cerevisiae commonly known as bakers yeast. Daily monitoring was done to study the composition and characteristics of the wine. During the fermentation period both the wines were analyzed for pH, titrable acidity, specific gravity, alcohol and total sugar on a daily basis. The comparison of final analysis of homemade …

Biofilm Forming and Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Clinical Isolates of Staphylococcus SpeciesBy S Priya, M. Priya
Abstract: Staphylococcus species are the most frequent causes of infection and infections on indwelling medical devices, which characteristically involve biofilms. This study observes the biofilm forming abilities and to analyze antimicrobial susceptibility pattern of clinical isolates of Staphylococcus species were found to be biofilm producers by microtitter plate assay method. And to evaluate the antibiofilm property of Moringa oleifera an Indian medicinal plant, known to possess antimicrobial activity. The results demonstrate …

Antibacterial Activity of Enicostemma Axillare Against Wound PathogensBy O.N. Shanmugapriya, S Priya
Abstract: The leaves extracts of Enicostemma axillare are used in traditional medicine for treatment of various infections. The antibacterial activity detected was against S.aureus, E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, P.vulgaris and K.pnemoniae. Wound swabs obtained from ten injured patients at Government hospital, led to the isolation of bacteria using standard methods, the microorganisms were isolated. Then chloroform, methanol and aqueous extract of Enicostemma axillare against S.aureus, E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, P.vulgaris and K.pnemoniae exhibited …
