USE OF WASTE MATERIALS IN PAVEMENTS CONSTRUCTION

Abstract

The construction activity usually increases day by day with increase in population, development of rural areas, modernization of existing structure, road construction etc. The need to manage waste materials like plastic, fly ash, blast furnace slag, colliery spoil, spent oil shale, foundry sands, mill tailing, cement kiln dust, used engine oil marble dust, waste tyres, glass waste, nonferrous slags, china clay, construction and demolition waste (CDW) has led to environmentally-friendly actions that promote the recycling and reuse of this type of waste material.The aim of this article is to seeks the possibilities of whether some of these waste product can be utilized as highway construction materials. Which will make it cost effective and promote the use of waste materials.
