Hybrid Polymer Composites Reinforced with Coconut Shell Fillers and Silica Fume: Synergistic Effects of Industrial By-Products : A Comprehensive Review
Abstract: The increasing requirement of sustainable and high-performance engineering materials has led to increased research in hybrid polymer composites comprising sustainable fillers in the form of renewable biomass or industrial by-products. Among the various bio-fillers that exist, coconut shell filler is gaining much prominence due to its low density, high content of lignin, hardness, and abundance as agricultural waste. Another industrial by-product that is rich in amorphous silica and possesses high …

Advanced Fiber-Reinforced Polymer Composites: Processing, Nano-Modified Adhesive Technologies, Interfacial Engineering, Durability, and Structural Applications—A Comprehensive Review
Abstract: Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites are considered to be one of the most universal categories of advanced engineering materials owing to their unique properties such as outstanding strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, fatigue durability, and wide opportunities for design. Innovations in the fields of fiber reinforcement, polymer matrix system, composite manufacturing technologies, and nano-modified adhesives technology have greatly extended the range of applications of this type of materials in aerospace, automotive, …

A Review on Hybrid Inorganic–Polymer Analog Nanocomposites Incorporating Pozzolanic Wastes and nano-Additives
Abstract: The recent progress of polymer matrix nanocomposites (PMNCs) reveals that the performance of matrix and filler is at the core of matrix–filler interaction, interfacial bonding, and well-controlled distribution of nanoscale reinforcements. Applying these concepts, we consider inorganic particulate systems as hybrid nanocomposites, in which a discontinuous inorganic matrix is effectively reinforced via synergistic co-incorporation of pozzolanic wastes and nano-additives. In the composite system described above, silica-, alumina-rich pozzolanic materials serve …

Polymers and others Advance Materials: A State-of-the-Art Review
Abstract: Developing emerging technologies requires pushing the boundaries of material science. Right now, conventional neat polymers simply do not last long enough in the field. They suffer from sudden mechanical failure, struggle with thermal instability, and throwaway disposal methods have created a massive environmental crisis. To tackle these exact issues, this review provides a critical evaluation of two rapidly growing solutions: sustainable bio-composites and self-healing polymer systems. Rather than offering a …

Sustainability and Mechanical Performance Evaluation of Cementitious Composites Reinforced with Waste Rubber Aggregates and Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag
Abstract: The development of environmentally responsible composite materials has gained global momentum with the shift toward circular and sustainable construction practices. In this work, the performance of cementitious composites that partially substitute natural fine and coarse aggregates with recycled rubber aggregates from end-of-life tires and Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) as an additional cementitious material is examined. A total of thirty composite mixes were formulated by varying GGBS (10–30%) and …

Use of Composite Materials for Sustainability
Abstract: Composite materials have emerged as key components in the quest for sustainability, providing a means to decrease environmental impact while improving performance in several applications. Some of the major benefits of using composites are durability, cut down regular repairs and replacements, preserve natural resources, reduce waste generation, and carbon footprint related to manufacturing processes. Due to renewability of natural fibers, the use of composites boosts sustainability and minimizes the environmental …
