Design, Synthesis, and in vitro Evaluation of Novel Benz/Imidazole-2-acetonitrile Derivatives as Antibacterial and Antifungal Agents
Abstract: Benzimidazole is a pharmaceutically important compound. In this research, we were able to prepare several heterocyclic derivatives from it by first preparing a new azo derivative ZH through a reaction of 3-aminoacetophenone with benzimidazole-2-acetonitrile. This azo derivative was then introduced via a condensation reaction with aromatic amine derivatives, resulting in the preparation of two Schiff base derivatives Z1 and Z2. From these bases, six and seven membered heterocyclic derivatives were …

Synthesis, Characterization of New Imidazolidin-4-One Containing Azo Compound Derived from Acetylacetone as Antibacterial and Antioxidant Agents
Abstract: In the present study, new derivatives of imidazolidine-4-one was prepared. Which involved reactions to diazonium salt of o-methoxy aniline with acetylacetone in the presence of sodium hydroxide, and isolating the azo compound as a brown precipitate. The azo diketone reacts efficiently with aromatic amine derivatives to produce Schiff bases as a light yellow and dark brown precipitates, and from this Schiff bases three derivatives of imidazolidine-4-one was prepared by reacting …

Synthesis, Characterization and Evaluation of Pyridine derivatives
Abstract: Schiff bases, a class of organic compounds, have garnered significant attention due to their diverse applications in various fields such as pharmaceuticals, materials science, and coordination chemistry. This study provides a comprehensive overview of the synthesis of Schiff bases amino pyridine derivatives and aromatic ketones along with their anti-microbial activity. Method: The synthesis of Schiff bases primarily involves the condensation reaction between a primary amine and a carbonyl compound (ketone) …

Synergistic and Antagonistic Effects of Azo-Schiff Base with Some Antibiotics on Gram-Positive Bacterial Isolates
Abstract: Antibacterial resistance has brought an urgent need to find a solution to the problem of antibacterial resistance and increase the effectiveness of antibiotics. Therefore, our current study was aimed to test the three concentrations viz., 0.5 mg/ml, 5 mg/ml and 50 mg/ml of Azo-Schiff base against Grampositive bacteria—Bacillus cereus, Micrococcus lutes, Staphylococcus aureus—to compare the effects of Schiff base alone or along with antibiotics on the viability of bacteria. Our …
