Production of Injection Moulded Natural Fiber Reinforced Hybrid Composites and Assessment of Hybridization’s Effect on Mechanical Properties
Abstract: Over the past two decades, rising environmental awareness, public concern over waste, and stricter government regulations have encouraged companies to reduce their reliance on petroleum-based fuels and products. Consequently, there is a clear need to find sustainable, eco-friendly substitutes for the materials currently in use. This shift has renewed attention on renewable resources and sparked wider interest in advanced composites and green materials research. With this in mind, the present …

Effect of Nanoclay Loading on Physical and Mechanical Properties of Epoxy Composites
Abstract: The effects of multilayer silicate loading on hardness, tensile, and impact properties were examined by developing epoxy–nanoclay composites with 0–5 wt% nanoclay. A desirable compromise between reduced void content and higher Shore D hardness was reached with an ideal nanoclay loading of 3 wt%, which reflected improved load transfer and increased matrix stiffness as a result of limited polymer chain mobility. Tensile strength and modulus rose up to 3 wt% …

Tailoring Toughness of Pineapple Leaf Fiber-Reinforced Epoxy Composites Using Halloysite Nanotubes
Abstract: This comprehensive study investigates the effects of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs) on the impact strength and fracture toughness of pineapple leaf fabric-reinforced epoxy (PALF/Ep) composites with an emphasis on sustainable material development. ASTM D256 and ASTM D5045 standards were followed in the fabrication of the composites. HNT weight percentages were systematically changed from 0 to 3wt% through using solution mixing and manual lay-up techniques, and vacuum bagging was used to obtain …

Improving the Performance of Self-compacting Concrete Using Optimized Admixture Combinations
Abstract: This study explores the influence of various admixture combinations on the performance of Self-Compacting Concrete (SCC), with an emphasis on its flow behavior, compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength, and resistance to impact. Various admixtures, including Air-Entraining Agent (AEA), Water-Reducing Plasticizer (WPC), Retarder (RET), and Accelerator (ACC), were incorporated into the SCC reference mix (SP + VMA) to evaluate their impact on SCC performance. A series of tests—such as slump …

Water Absorption and Mechanical Behaviour of Bagasse Fibre and Particle-Reinforced Hybrid Composite Materials
Abstract: This study investigates the mechanical behaviour and water absorption characteristics of bagasse fibre and groundnut shell particle (GSP)-reinforced hybrid composites using a phenol-formaldehyde (PF) resin matrix. Varying weight fractions of GSP (5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%) were incorporated into the composites, with bagasse fibre content kept constant at 30% by weight. Tensile, flexural, and impact strengths were measured, and the water absorption behaviour was evaluated following ASTM standards. The results indicated …

Experimental Investigation of Mechanical Properties of the Composite Materials Reinforced by Agro-based Waste Materials
Abstract: In this work, experiments were carried out to develop the glass fiber reinforced composites using the hand layup method and analyze the mechanical properties of the GFRP hybrid composites. The ultimate Tensile strength (UTS) using rice as a filler (GFRPC/R) was 3.04% and 12.89% higher than coir and wheat as filler, respectively. The hybrid composite using coir as a filler (GFRPC/C) revealed 12.54% greater flexural strength, and the hybrid composite …
