Abstract: This paper reviews light straightening, super-collimation, strong beaming, extraordinary refraction and splitting in photonic crystals and stratified structures. The light straightening finds potential applications in design of optical devices. The super collimation and strong beaming can be utilized in optical integrated circuits.
