Experiments to Control the Surface-Driven Microfluidic Flow of Dyed Water in Straight PMMA Microchannels Fabricated by Maskless Lithography, Hot Embossing Lithography and Direct Bonding Technique
Abstract: Total six individual straight microchannels are fabricated by maskless lithography, hot embossing lithography and direct bonding technique using author’s own hands-on completely inside the cleanroom laboratory. Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) is the selected polymeric material to fabricate these straight microchannels. Dyed water is prepared as working liquid to record and study the microfluidic flow characteristics inside these fabricated microchannels. Air dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma processing is the surface modification technique in …

Recording of the Surface-Driven Microfluidic Flow of Aqueous Working Liquids in PMMA Microfluidic Devices
Abstract: In this work, the pristine polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microchannel surfaces are modified by the air dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma processing, nitrogen plasma treatment, Undoped diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating, and Si-doped DLC coating, to produce the PMMA microfluidic devices having inner walls of different surface wettability. Dyed water and dyed aqueous ethanol (90% dyed water, 10% ethanol) are the selected two aqueous working liquids. The video recording of each surface-driven microfluidic …

Effect of Surface Modifications on the Meniscus Velocities of Dyed Water in PMMA Microchannels
Abstract: In this work, author has fabricated the polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microfluidic devices to study the effect of surface modification techniques on surface-driven capillary flow. Maskless lithography, hot embossing lithography and direct bonding technique are used to fabricate the PMMA microfluidic devices. The effect of static water contact angle on surface- driven capillary flow is studied in the fabricated devices. The effect of the arrays of square PMMA micropillars on surface-driven capillary …
