Recording of the Surface-Driven Microfluidic Flow of Aqueous Working Liquids in PMMA Microfluidic Devices
Abstract: In this work, the pristine polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microchannel surfaces are modified by the air dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma processing, nitrogen plasma treatment, Undoped diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating, and Si-doped DLC coating, to produce the PMMA microfluidic devices having inner walls of different surface wettability. Dyed water and dyed aqueous ethanol (90% dyed water, 10% ethanol) are the selected two aqueous working liquids. The video recording of each surface-driven microfluidic …

Passive Capillary Flow of Aqueous Working Liquids in the Straight PMMA Microchannels of Rectangular Cross- sections
Abstract: In this report, polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) is used to fabricate the straight microchannels of uniform channel widths having rectangular cross-sections. Maskless lithography, hot embossing lithography and direct bonding are the chosen techniques to fabrication the straight PMMA microchannels. Aqueous ethanol and aqueous isopropyl alcohol (IPA) are the prepared aqueous working liquids to study the passive capillary flow characteristics. Total 8 individual straight PMMA microchannels are fabricated in this work. This work …

Effect of PMMA Micropillars on the Surface-Driven Capillary Flow of Dyed Aqueous Ethanol in PMMA Microchannels
Abstract: In this work, dyed aqueous ethanol (60% ethanol, 40% dyed water) is prepared as the working liquid. The effect of surface modification on the microfluidic flow of aqueous ethanol is studied in the polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) devices. The effect of surface area to volume ratio on microfluidic flow of aqueous ethanol is also studied. The effect of microfluidic friction on microfluidic flow of aqueous ethanol is also studied. This work will …

Passive Capillary Flow of Aqueous Working Liquids in the SU-8 based Microchannel Bends
Abstract: In this work, total 4 individual SU-8 based microchannel bends are fabricated by maskless lithography and indirect bonding technique. The leakage-free surface-driven capillary flow of aqueous ethanol is recorded by a CMOS camera. Also, the leakage-free surface-driven capillary flow of aqueous isopropyl alcohol (IPA) is recorded by the CMOS camera. This work will be useful in bioengineering applications.

Passive Capillary Flow of Aqueous Working Liquids in the PMMA Microchannel Bends
Abstract: In this work, passive capillary flows or surface-driven capillary flows are recorded in polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microfluidic devices using aqueous ethanol and aqueous isopropyl alcohol (IPA) as chosen aqueous working liquids. Microchannel bends are the chosen microfluidic devices with the selected microchannel widths of 50, 120 and 200 micron. This work will be useful to fabricate the PMMA laboratory-on-a-chip systems for bioengineering applications.
