Abstract

The demand for data rate is increasing rapidly as well as the number of users is also increasing. So, to fulfill both demands and also taking care of necessary optical bandwidth. A dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) technology-based 48 channels with 40Gbps data rate free-space optical (FSO) communication system using symmetrical compensation technique is designed. In this paper, an attempt is made to increase the link range of the transmission channel up to 4 km and the capacity of the system by using 48 channels of dense wavelength division multiplex (DWDM). It is revealed that in the proposed DWDM network, lower wavelength ranging from 1550 nm to 1562 nm provides good transmission at the data rate of 40Gbps compared to higher-order wavelength.
