An Improved Biometric Authentication with Scleral Patterns
Abstract: Biometrics is the science of recognizing people based on their physical or behavioral traits such as face, fingerprints, iris, and voice. Iris is unique part of the eye that is varied from person to person. Iris is white part of the eye and it covering the sclera. The accuracy of the iris recognition system depends on the image quality of the iris images and also iris recognition requires frontal gaze …

Visual Outcome in Patients with Rhegmatogenous Retinal Detachment Undergoing Primary Scleral Buckling Procedure
Abstract: This study was aimed at the visual and anatomical outcome of the conventional sclera buckling procedure performed for primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Fifty eyes of 50 patients of RRD were studied. Preoperative data included patient’s gender, lens status (phakic, aphakic, visually significant cataract, pseudophakia), history of trauma, ocular surgery, macular detachment and preoperative BCVA. Cases were stratified into four BCVA groups, both pre- and postoperatively. There were 21 males (42%) …

A Comparative Study of Visual Outcome with Superior, Supero-temporal and Temporal Incisions in Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery
Abstract: The purpose of the present study was to compare visual outcome in patients undergoing manual small incision cataract surgery with superior, supero-temporal and temporal incisions. The study was conducted between December 2014 and December 2015. For the prospective analysis, 102 cases meeting the inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected. The patients were randomly allocated to three groups of 34 each and surgeries were performed. In group A with superior, group …

Rheumatoid Arthritis and its Relationship with Vitamin D, ESR, and Obesity
Abstract: Recent years have seen a rise in the prevalence of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), a disease marked by the destruction of articular cartilage and ankylosis of the joints, as well as other complications such as diffuse lung inflammation, sclera, pleura, pericardium, and nodular lesions, which are also common in subcutaneous tissue. Reviewing RA symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and associations with vitamin D, ESR, and obesity was the aim of the study. Even …

Management of Kosthasakhashrita Kamala W.S.R. to Hepatocellular Jaundice – A Case Study
Abstract: Kosthasakhāśrit Kamala is a well-recognized clinical entity in Ayurveda and is widely correlated with modern hepatocellular jaundice. The condition arises primarily due to the vitiation of Pitta dosha within the Kostha (gastrointestinal tract), which subsequently spreads to the Sakha (peripheral tissues). Classical texts describe hallmark features such as Haridra Netra (yellowish discoloration of the eyes), yellowish hue of twak and nakha, pitta varṇa of mutra and sakrit (yellow urine and …

Jaundice: Etiology, Clinical Manifestations, Diagnosis, Management, Nursing Care, and Prevention
Abstract: Jaundice is a significant clinical condition marked by a yellow discoloration of the skin, sclera, and mucous membranes resulting from increased bilirubin levels in the bloodstream. Rather than being a disease itself, jaundice represents an underlying disorder involving the liver, biliary system, or hematological processes. Hyperbilirubinemia develops when there is excessive bilirubin production, impaired hepatic uptake, defective conjugation, or obstruction in bile excretion. Jaundice remains a major global health concern …

Clinicoradiological Evaluation of Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension
Abstract: Idiopathic intracranial hypertension refers to elevated intracranial pressure when there is no detectable space-occupying lesion. Individuals with idiopathic intracranial hypertension commonly exhibit classic indications of increased intracranial pressure, including headaches, nausea, neck discomfort, double vision, temporary visual obscurity, and swelling of the optic nerve head (papilledema). Typical magnetic resonance imaging findings include empty sella, optic nerve tortuousity, globe flattening, and transverse sinus stenosis. All patients from July 2021 to June …

Adjuvant Unani Formulations used in Fournier’s Gangrene Patient: A Case Study
Abstract: Fournier’s gangrene is a rare infection characterized with fast-progressing myonecrosis, which affect regions of perineum, genitalia and perianal area. E. coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Streptococcus putridus, Staphylococcus and Klebsiella are commonly involved. Symptomatically presented as sudden pain in the scrotum, fever, severe toxicity, very fast spreading cellulitis of scrotal skin, extending to the groin and often to anterior abdominal wall. The aim of this case study is to acknowledge the effectiveness …

Iris Recognition System Using Principal Component Analysis based Back-Propagation Learning Neural Networks
Abstract: This paper deals with the iris recognition system using Back-Propagation learning neural network algorithm where Principal Component Analysis technique has been used to reduce the dimension of the iris feature vector. Automated iris localization and segmentation methods have applied to effectively isolate the iris region from pupil and sclera. Circular Hogue transform has used to detect the iris/sclera boundary and pupil/iris boundary. To remove the upper and lower eyelids effects …
