Psychrophiles: Cold Adaptation
Abstract: Almost three-quarters of the Earth’s surface are covered by cold ecosystems, involving the depths of ocean, and Polar Regions. These continuous cold environments have been successfully covered by members of extremophiles which are known as psychrophiles (means cold-loving). To grow at temperatures that are close to, or below, the freezing point of water requires many adaptations. To survive in such cold weather, psychrophilic organisms developed structural, physiological and molecular adaptations. …

Growth and Nitrogen (N) Metabolizing Enzymes of Mesophilic and Psychrophilic Heterocystous Cyanobacteria—In Response to Temperature Regimes
Abstract: The increased NR & NiR activity, GS and nitrogenase activities at 25°C and 35°C in psychrophilic and mesophilic organisms indicates that the Arctic isolate is a psychrotolerant as it shows increased enzyme levels than its original temperature in which we isolated the organism though biomass was greater at 3°C. The biomass and enzyme data indicates cyanobacteria are the initiators of primary colonization in polar and alpine environments and are responsible …

All Climates Carboxymethyl Cellulase from Psychrophilic Fungus Truncatella angustata
Abstract: The aim of this research was to screen the activity of carboxymethyl cellulase (CMCase) in laboratory stocks of psychrotrophic fungi (Penicillium canescens BPF4, Truncatella angustata BPF5 and Pseudogymnoascus roseus BPF6). Of the three fungal species, the psychrotrophic fungus T. angustata showed maximum CMCase activity under cold temperatures. The maximum CMCase activity from T. angustata was found at 40°C, a residual activity of 60 % at 4°C, 90% at 10°C, 75% …

Screening of Cold-Active Lipase from Psychotropic Fungi
Abstract: Lipase is a class of enzymes that catalyze as, hydrolysis of long-chain tri-glycoside and comprise the large significant group of bio-catalysts for biotechnological applications. Currently, the cold-active lipases (CLPS) are the enzyme of choice for pharmacists, organic chemists, biochemical, biophysicists and engineering processes, bio-technologists and micro-biologists as well as biochemists. The production of CLPs is mostly existed from psychrophilic microorganisms. Psychrophiles and psychrotrophs extracellular colds-active enzymes at low temperature (cold) …
