Design of a Plant for the Production of Ammonia and Urea Using Aspen HYSYS
Abstract: The design of a plant for the production of 1800 MT/Day of ammonia and 1400 MT/Day of urea using aspen HYSYS was carried out in this work. Ammonia is produced through the Haber-Bosch process, where hydrogen and nitrogen react in the presence of a catalyst producing mixture containing ammonia while urea is produced by the reaction between ammonia and carbon IV oxide. In this work, aspen HYSYS, chemical engineering design …

Improved Gasoline Yield from Fluid Catalytic Cracker Riser Reactor
Abstract: The study focused on improvement and conversion of vacuum gas oil as feedstock to fluid catalytic cracker riser reactor with enhanced yield of gasoline, liquefied petroleum gas and fuel gas products and low yield of coke as undesired product. Thus, steady state performance models were developed for riser reactor as a plug flow reactor using five lump kinetic scheme to study the cracking operations. Models were developed for the riser …

Design of Plant for the Production of 30,000 Tons Per Year Capacity of Dimethyl Carbonate (DMC) from Natural Gas Using Aspen HYSYS
Abstract: This study focuses on the design of a plant for the production of 30,000 tons per year of dimethyl carbonate (DMC) from natural gas. The plant design was carried out using the Aspen HYSYS Software. The data obtained from Kokori natural gas served as the primary feedstock for the plant. A kinetic model for the production of DMC was developed from existing literature, followed by the development of the mathematical …

Catalytic Performance of Fe Modified Zeolite Beta for Synthesis of Xylene
Abstract: The catalytic performance of metal exchanged zeolite for the synthesis of xylene was determined in the present investigation. The experiments were carried out for alkylation of toluene with methanol over Fe modified zeolite beta for the production of xylene in a plug flow reactor. Modification of zeolite beta with Fe brings significant increase in the activity of catalyst and selectivity of the product xylene. A time on stream study showed …
