Studies on Length-Weight Relationships and Condition Factor of Common Fish Dawkinsia filamentosa (Cypriniforms: Cyprinidae) from Southern Western Ghats, India
Abstract: AbstractThe present study describes the length-weight relationships and condition factor of a freshwater fish of Dawkinsia filamentosa (Valenciennes, 1844), southern Western Ghats, Tamilnadu, India. A total of 103 fishes were sampled from four mid-order streams (Thalaianai, Iluppaiyar, Gadana and Gundar). Fish samples were caught from March to May 2013. The linear regression parameters ‘a’ and ‘b’ of the length-weight relationship were estimated as W=aLb are presented. The result indicates that …

Studies On The Length-Weight Relationship And Morphometric Characteristics of Rohu, Labeo Rohita (Hamilton) From Pond In Radhamohanpur, Jirania, Tripura, India
Abstract: The present study describes the length–weight (LWR) relationship and morphometric characters of 30 specimens of the rohu, Labeo rohita (Hamilton) collected from the pond situated in Radhamohanpur, Jirania, Tripura, India over a period of six months extending from (January 2020-June 2020). The fish were caught by traditional fishing gear. Total length (TL) reading has been taken from Vernier Calliper and Body weight (BW) measured with digital balance. The readings of …

Length–Weight and Girth Relationship, Condition Factor, and Stomach Contents of Pila Ovata from Otuoke/Otuaba River, Bayelsa State, Nigeria
Abstract: Otuoke/Otuaba River situated in Otuoke, Bayelsa State, Nigeria serves numerous purposes, such as fishing, laundry, human feacal disposal, amongst others. The river is home to Pila ovata, a mollusc which serves as a special delicacy in the meals of most Bayelsan due to its high protein content. The length-weight and girth relationship, condition factor and stomach contents of P. Ovata (Apple snail) from Otuoke/Otuaba River was studied. Snail samples were …

Length–Weight Relationship and Condition Factor of Penaeus notialis from Amadi-Ama Creek, Port Harcourt, Nigeria
Abstract: The length-weight relationship and condition factor (CF) of Penaeus notialis from Amadi-Ama Creek, Port Harcourt, Nigeria was studied between May and July 2019. This was to provide some data that could serve as a guide in making managerial decisions on the stock. A total of 200 P.notialis were collected; sampling was done twice in a month from fishers and middlemen at the landing sites. It comprised of 103 males and …

The Study on Adaptability, Growth Performance and Reproductive Biology of Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758) Stocked in Reservoirs of Gumer District, Guraghe Zone, SNNPRS, Ethiopia
Abstract: Understanding the adaptability, growth performance and reproductive biology is very important for the proper utilization of fish species and their sustainable production. This study aimed to establish the first information on the adaptability, growth condition and some reproductive biology of common carp (Cyprinus carpio Linnaeus, 1758) stocked in Stocked in Reservoirs of Gumer District (Arekit, Yaboba and Dewashe), Guraghe Zone, SNNPRS (Ethiopia) for designing an appropriate management methods. Fish specimens …

Comparative Growth and Condition of Liza grandisquamis from Elechi and Amadi-Ama Creeks, Port Harcourt, Nigeria
Abstract: Growth and condition of Liza grandisquamis was assessed in two natural environments to create baseline information for accessing the fish stock. Regression analysis using the power curve W=aLb indicated a negative allometric growth in both water bodies. The difference in coefficient of growth for the two water bodies was not significant. Linear relationship between the length and weight variables was similar. Condition factors for the water bodies were significantly different …

Experimental Investigation of Flexural Strength and Impact Strength of Friction Stir Welded Ultrahigh Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE)
Abstract: Friction stir welding (FSW) is a solid-state process in joining thermoplastic materials. Polymers are engineering materials used for future technological development as the polymer processing and fabrication techniques have developed plastic products and components in major industries. Utilization of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) material in engineering structures has increased because of its low weight, high specific strength, chemical resistance, design flexibility, corrosion resistance and reduced manufacturing costs. In present …

Growth Performance and Weight Estimation of Large White Piglets Weaned at Different Ages
Abstract: The study was carried out on 24 neonatal large white piglets at the National Livestock Breeding Station, Pong-Tamale to assess their performance when weaned at different ages and to determine the relationship between linear body measurements and the body weight of piglets in weight prediction. The piglets were randomly weaned at three selected weaning ages (4, 6 and 8 weeks) but reared under uniform conditions. Initial body weight (BW), initial …

Studies on Character Association and Path Analysis in Slender Grain Rice (Oryza sativaL.) Varieties
Abstract: AbstractField experiment was carried out to determine the degree of association and magnitude of direct and indirect effects between grain yield and yield attributing characters for 18 slender grain rice varieties for six characters. Growth and yield of rice plant is influenced by interaction of genetic and environmental factors. Knowledge on degree of relationship between the traits confirming yield are useful to breeder to choose the traits to give significant …
