Skin Prick Test and Intradermal Test in Allergic Disorders: Clinical Relevance
Abstract: Allergic diseases are one of the commonest ailments affecting individuals of all age groups globally and their prevalence has been increasing exponentially. Allergy skin testing was started in 1860 by Blackley as a diagnostic tool. Since then, it has been the standard clinical method to demonstrate the presence of allergen-specific IgE antibodies in allergic diseases. There is now consistent evidence that if we decrease sensitization to an allergen, we can …

Perturbant Effect of Iron in Free and Complexed Form on the Briggs-Rauscher Oscillating Reaction
Abstract: The present work is aimed to investigate the perturbations of the oscillatory regime of Briggs-Rauscher (BR) reaction by Fe(bipy)32+ and Fe(C2O4)33‑ complexes in a continuous stirred tank reactor (CSTR). The path of the perturbation (immediate quenching of oscillation -inhibition time- resumption of oscillations) provoked by the ferrous complex (Fe(bipy)32+) was found different to that of the ferric complex (Fe(C2O4)33‑). The initial concentration of Fe(bipy)32+ complex showed a linear dependence on …

Subclinical Significant High Serum Immunoglobulin E Response to 20 Allergens: Age and Gender Based Study
Abstract: Background: Antigen-immunoglobulin E (IgE) reaction is an example of immediate allergic reactions. High serum IgE levels were reported in many diseases that linked to the multiple allergens. Objectives: This study aimed to measure the serum IgE against 20 allergens in patients who had a previous history of allergy due to unidentified precipitating factors. Methods: This retrospective study was conducted at the Al Zahraa Consultant Center for Allergy and Asthma that …

Mind-Gut Connection: The Psychosomatic Effects of Stress and Emotions on Digestive System
Abstract: Stress, understood as an immediate disruption to bodily equilibrium, triggers an adaptive or allostatic response that impacts gastrointestinal function both in the short and long term. The enteric nervous system communicates in both directions with the brain through parasympathetic and sympathetic pathways, collectively forming what is known as the brain-gut axis. Unani scholars describe stress as a response to the loss of something valuable, such as an opportunity, a desired …
