Suspension System with Combined Leaf and Helical Spring: A Review
Abstract: A good suspension system of any automobile vehicle must have minimum deflection, minimum weight, low maintenance and low operating cost with some other fine properties. Springs are major element of any suspension system and first line of its defense. If the suspension springs are rigid enough, they will not absorb road shocks efficiently, and if they are more flexible, then they will keep vibrating for a longer time even after …

Stress Analysis of Leaf Spring Suspension System with the Combination of Helical Springs
Abstract: This research article deals with a modified version of leaf spring suspension system introduced for the optimization of existing leaf spring suspension system design, by the combination of two helical springs with the master leaf. To furnish this end, a semi-elliptical type mono leaf spring of light weighted mini truck is considered for design and modeling work. On both the sides of this mono leaf, a helical spring is designed …

Deflection Analysis of the Leaf Spring Suspension System with the Combination of Helical Springs
Abstract: An efficient and optimized leaf spring suspension system for heavy vehicles must have low deflection but good damping capacity of absorbing shocks and jerks. In this research article, deflection analysis of a modified leaf spring suspension system with the combination of helical spring model is presented. To furnish this end, in the typical leaf spring suspension system model, a helical spring at each side of the master leaf is incorporated. …

Optimization of Helical Spring Weight using Meta-heuristic Algorithms
Abstract: Optimization is the act of obtaining the best results under given circumstances. A mathematical theory of optimization is highly in use and is being applied to design where design function can be expressed mathematically. Many techniques like Linear Programming, Branch & Bound technique, Dynamic Programming methods are available to solve optimization problems. But these conventional Methods suffer from certain drawbacks like sticking at suboptimal solution, inefficiency in handling problems having …

Design & Development of Helical Compression Spring Using Composite Material
Abstract: The paper embodies the manufacturing of a helical compression spring using composite material. The main motive for the use of composite material spring is its low density and greater stiffness to that of a steel spring. The composite material spring has greater stiffness to weight ratio as compared to the steel spring. We have manufactured carbon fibre and glass fibre spring using filament winding technique as less as possible economical …

Application of Full Factorial Design for Optimizing Variables of Hydraulic Plunger Spring
Abstract: Compression Helical Spring has various applications in automobile. Spring stores the energy of deformation due to applied load and remains its original position, shape or size after the load is removed. Springs are further classified as leaf springs, springs. The design parameters of spring manufacturing consists of spring rate, pitch, free length, wire diameter, flat/round ends, circular ends, number of turns etc. Various researchers have conduct observations on springs with …

Investigation of Heat Transfer in Concentric Annuli with Perforated Inserts
Abstract: The increasing necessity for saving energy and material imposed by the diminishing world resources and environmental concerns have prompted the development of more effective heat-transfer equipment with improved heat-transfer rates. The hydrodynamic boundary layer acts as main resistance for the transfer of heat from tube surface to fluid or vice-versa and many researchers are trying to improve the convective heat transfer rate with inserts in tubes to break the boundary …

Design and Development of Experimental Test Rig for Fatigue Life Estimation of Freewheel One-Way Clutch Used in Switchgear Applications at High Overrunning Speeds
Abstract: Freewheel one-way clutch (OWC) is a critical component used in industrial circuit breakers/switchgear to facilitate quick disengagement of the drive when an electrical circuit trips under overcurrent. The clutch acts as a safety device to endure high overrunning speeds and allows the drive shaft to rotate at normal operating speeds during each tripping cycle. The trip mechanism utilizes the stored potential energy of the helical compression spring, which is the …
