A Comprehensive Survey on Detection of Video Transitions
Abstract: Video shot boundary detection (SBD) is a fundamental task in the field of video processing and analysis. It plays a critical role in various video applications such as content-based video retrieval, video indexing, editing, summarization, and browsing. Identifying shot boundaries helps segment a continuous video stream into distinct shots, each representing a meaningful visual unit. This segmentation is essential for organizing and interpreting video data efficiently. This study provides an …

Fractal-Entropy Guided Adaptive Signal Reconstruction for Non-Stationary Biomedical and Communication Systems
Abstract: This paper presents a novel Fractal-Entropy Guided Adaptive Signal Reconstruction (FEG- ASR) framework designed for accurate processing of non-stationary signals in biomedical and communication systems. The proposed approach integrates fractal dimension analysis with entropy- based feature evaluation to capture the intrinsic complexity and irregularity of time-varying signals. By dynamically adapting reconstruction parameters based on fractal-entropy measures, the method effectively separates noise from meaningful signal components while preserving critical information. The …

Representation-Theoretic Symmetry Reduction and Fuzzy-Grey Optimization of Modular Vibration Systems
Abstract: This paper presents a representation-theoretic framework for symmetry-aware vibration control in modular structural systems. Exploiting cyclic symmetry, the mass, damping, and stiffness operators are block-diagonalised into irreducible representations, reducing the full structural dynamics to a collection of lower-dimensional modal subsystems. This decomposition provides both computational efficiency and a rigorous mathematical description of symmetry-preserving dynamic behaviour. To account for imperfections arising in practical implementations, near-symmetry defects in stiffness and damping are …

Artificial Intelligence–Assisted Reduced-Order Modeling and Stability Control in Granular Couette Flow
Abstract: This study develops a reduced-order and stability-aware modeling framework for dense granular Couette flow by integrating continuum mechanics, bifurcation analysis, and data-driven stability estimation. Starting from coupled governing equations for momentum, granular temperature, and microstructural evolution, the system is nondimensionalized and reduced using a Galerkin projection consistent with shear-driven boundary conditions. This yields a low-dimensional nonlinear dynamical system that preserves the essential coupling between velocity, fluctuation energy, and structural relaxation. …
