Axial Compression Behavior of Aluminum (Al), Glass/Epoxy (GFRP) and Hybrid Al-GFRP Crash-box: An Experimental and Digital Image Correlation Approach
Abstract: The study aims to understand the axial compression characteristics and fracture of cylindrical Aluminum (Al), Glass/epoxy (GFRP) composite and Hybrid Al-GFRP crash-boxes. The hollow Al tubes are fabricated by rolling and bonding a thin aluminum sheet followed by rivet joints. The GFRP samples are manufactured using the wet-hand layup technique followed by the vacuum bagging method. Hybrid samples are manufactured by covering GFRP tubes with aluminum sheets on the outer …

Fracture Toughness in Advanced Materials: A Comparative Review of Testing Methods and Standards
Abstract: Fracture toughness is a key material property used to assess a material's ability to resist crack propagation, which is vital for ensuring the reliability and durability of structures and components in high-performance applications. It is particularly important in advanced materials such as composites, ceramics, and high-strength alloys, which are increasingly used in demanding industries such as aerospace, automotive, and civil engineering. Fracture toughness testing helps determine the material's behavior under …

Mechanical Testing Under Tensile-load
Abstract: Mechanical testing is a technique used to establish a material's mechanical qualities by examining its strength, toughness, hardness, and other characteristics. Specimens produced of various materials whose qualities need to be examined are used to verify this property. In which a static load is applied and a dynamic load is applied, and the test is completed. Understating loads in mechanical testing is the topic of this research article. Any manufacturing …

Assessment of Matrix Cracking and Fiber Breakage in Hybrid Composite Materials.
Abstract: Hybrid composite materials, combining two or more distinct fiber or matrix constituents, have emerged as advanced structural solutions for aerospace, automotive, marine, and civil engineering applications. However, their complex microstructure makes them susceptible to multiple interacting damage mechanisms, particularly matrix cracking and fiber breakage. This study provides a comprehensive assessment of these damage modes, emphasizing their initiation, evolution, and combined effects on the mechanical integrity of hybrid composites. Matrix cracking …

Damage Evolution and Delamination Resistance in Polymer Matrix Functionally Graded Laminates
Abstract: Functionally graded laminates (FGLs) in polymer-matrix systems represent a promising pathway to enhance damage tolerance and delay delamination in advanced structural composites. In this study, we explore the mechanisms of damage initiation, propagation, and delamination resistance in polymer matrix functionally graded laminates (PM-FGLs) through a combined experimental–computational approach. Laminates with linear, exponential, and bio-inspired gradation profiles were fabricated using vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) and additive manufacturing techniques. Comprehensive mechanical …

Time Multiplexed Binary Offset Carrier (TMBOC) Transmitter with Polarimetric Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (Pol-InSAR)
Abstract: This paper provides insights into Time Multiplexed Binary Offset Carrier (TMBOC), a modulation technique employed in satellite navigation systems, specifically designed for GPS L1C. TMBOC improves signal correlation properties by time-multiplexing Binary Offset Carrier (BOC) (1, 1) and (6, 1). The text discusses various TMBOC models, including spectral representations and power distributions. Performance analysis reveals the potential of TMBOC signals in achieving superior tracking accuracy and interference resistance compared to …
