Strengthening of Hydraulic Lime with Synthetic, Organic, and Bio-Additives: State-of-the-Art Review on Eco-Friendly Construction
Abstract: Cement is acknowledged to be one of the significant modern construction materials used all over the world because of its excellent properties. Though cement dominates the construction industry, the usage of lime binder is still replaceable because of the need for restoration and repair of existing heritage structures. Though lime offers several advantages such as “breathing”, higher durability and deformability, the performance of the lime mortar is still mistrusted because …

Enhancing Strength and Durability: A Study of Mortar Blocks with Steel Slag Incorporation and the Development of Steel Slag Lime and Cement Blocks
Abstract: This study is focused on investigating the strength and durability properties of mortar cubes made with slag cement and incorporating Ultra Fine Steel Slag (SS) as a potential replacement for natural fine aggregates (FNA). In some instances, the cement was entirely replaced with hydrated lime to develop the blocks. A battery of tests, including assessments of compressive strength, acid resistance, sulfate resistance, water absorption, and void analysis, were carried out …

Strength Prediction and Optimization of Portland Limestone Cement Blended with Metakaolin and Rice Husk Ash
Abstract: This study explores the effects of Rice Husk Ash (RHA) and Metakaolin (MK) on the compressive strength of Portland Limestone Cement (PLC) mortar, aiming to promote sustainable construction materials. RHA and MK, derived from agricultural and industrial byproducts, serve as supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) that offer environmental benefits and improve cement properties. Using response surface methodology (RSM) and central composite design (CCD), the research optimized the ternary blend of PLC, …

A Review on Sustainable Utilization of Dimensional Stone Waste as Construction Material
Abstract: The non-biodegradable nature of stone waste enhances the worldwide problem of disposal. A lack of land for waste landfills, increased transportation costs, and other related problems have compelled industries to look for alternative solutions. Depletion of natural resources has also been brought about by the construction industry's excessive use of resources like cement, river sand, and natural aggregates. As a result, the demand for sustainable and commercially feasible alternatives is …

Comparative Evaluation of the Pozzolanic Activity of Artificial Pozzolans: Steel Slag, Fly Ash, and GGBFS
Abstract: Evaluating the pozzolanic activity of specific industrial waste is crucial given the growing demand for cementitious materials. This research aims to expand the possibilities of incorporating pozzolanic waste such as Steel Slag (SS) as additives to cement. SS is a byproduct of the steel production process. A byproduct of the steelmaking process, slags have long been used as aggregates in building materials like concrete and roads. A closed-loop structure and …
