Effect of Genotype and Growth Regulators for the Callus Initiation and Regeneration of Mustard (Brassica napus)
Abstract: The present study is conducted to develop an efficient protocol for shoot and plant regeneration using four cultivars grown under the agricultural conditions of Bangladesh. Seed explants from four varieties were cultured in vitro and callus formation and swelling as well as the mode of shoot and root regeneration was evaluated. A highly positive response to in vitro culture, i.e., callus formation or swelling, was observed in all the varieties …

Effect of Carbohydrates on Induction of Callus and Changes in Some Biochemical Parameters of Safflower (Carthamus Tinctorius L.)
Abstract: AbstractCarthamus tinctorius L. an oilseed crop is a member of the family Compositae or Asteraceae. Traditionally the crop was grown for its seeds used for colouring and favouring foods, in medicines and making red and yellow dyes especially before cheaper alanine dyes became available. For the last fifty years or so, the plant has been cultivated mainly for vegetable oil extracted from its seeds. This study describes the effect of …

Antibacterial Activity of Pongamia pinnata Leaf and Callus Extracts against Microorganisms Causing Periodontal Diseases
Abstract: Some specific microorganisms have been identified as etiologic agents of periodontitis. The main goal of treatment is to control the spread of infection. Depending on the extent of the gum disease, treatment varies. Therapeutic antibiotic along with surgery are the most opted form of treatment. But, due to high costs of antibiotics, the disastrous side effects and emergence of multi drug resistant strains of these pathogenic bacteria, a safe alternative …

In vitro Cultivation of Trifolium Alexandrium L. as a Forage Crop for Sustainability of Pastoral Ecosystem
Abstract: Trifolium alexandrium L., commonly known as Berseem or clover, is an important leguminous winter fodder crop. In comparison to other legumes and grasses, clover provides forage with high nutritional value and quality. Hence, introduction of Berseem (clover) in existing pastoral ecosystem can provide value-added forage that can result in an increased level of animal production and simultaneously enhance stocking rates. Tissue culture is a technique through which we are able …

In vitro Responses of Indigofera tinctoria Linn. (Neela Amari)
Abstract: Indigofera tinctoria is an important medicinal plant of South and South-East Asia. These plants showed a low germination rate and scanty rooting of seedlings in conventional propagation. The tender leaves showed callus formation in MS medium with single auxin [Naphthalene Acetic Acid (NAA); 2, 4 Dichloro phenoxy Acetic acid (2, 4-D)]. Lower concentration of auxin showed better result. The explants showed callusing frequency of 95%. Even though both the auxins …

Transgenic Expression of Stress Tolerance Gene in Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.)
Abstract: AbstractAgrobacterium tumefaciens LBA4404 mediated transformation of sugarcane variety 31 with two plasmids of pB1121 constructs, one containing PsCBL gene and the other containing PsCIPK gene was studied for stress tolerance capability induction. Calli of the variety Isd 31 were infected with both plasmid containing strains using three different infection times of 60, 90 and 120 min in acetosyringone infection medium. In GUS (β-glucuronidase) assay, randomly selected calli from 120 min …

Comparative Study on the Effect of Growth Regulators on The Development and Multiplication of in vitro Germinated Orchids of Bangladesh
Abstract: Abstract‘In vitro’ culture response of different plant growth regulators was assessed in two indigenous medicinal orchid species namely, Acampe papillosa (Lindl.) Lindl. and Aerides odoratum Lour. orchid for optimum callus induction and plantlet regeneration. Leaf and nodal segments of in vitro grown seedlings of the both species were cultured on MS and PM (Phytamax) media supplemented with different concentration and combinations of plant growth regulators of Auxin and Cytokinins. The …

HPTLC Fingerprinting of Isoflavonoids and Metabolites Quantification from in vivo and in vitro Developed Parts of Pueraria tuberosa (Willd.) DC
Abstract: Pueraria tuberosa (Willd.) DC, a medicinally important plant, produces different types of isoflavonoids including Genestein. This plant requires conservation. In present study, callus was developed from in vivo tuber and in vitro seedling. Murashige and Skoog medium supplement with combination of BAP (6-Benzylaminopurine) (1.5mg/l) and 2,4-D (1.5mg/l) were found to be more effective. Fresh in vitro shoots produced from nodal explants of in vitro germinated seedling on MS medium supplement …
