Reduction of Pollutant for SI Engine Using Argon and Oxy-hydrogen
Abstract: Reducing the emission associated with oil combustion is gaining increasing interest worldwide. Due to their dangerous effects on human health, vegetation and climate, various pre-combustion, in-cylinder and post combustion techniques have been tried for their abatement. The combustion of a hydrocarbon fuel with air produces mainly carbon dioxide(CO2) and Water(H2O). However, internal combustion engines are not perfectly efficient, so some of the fuel is not burned, which results in the …

Sonophotocatalytic Degradation of Scarlet Red dye using Fe-Bi2O3 Catalyst and its Process Optimization by Response Surface Methodology
Abstract: The catalyst Fe-Bi2O3 was synthesized by ultrasound irradiation and used as a catalyst for the sonophotocatalytic degradation of scarlet red dye. The synthesized catalyst were characterized by SEM, XRD and DRS. SEM image reveals the formation of nanorod structure of the catalyst, XRD reveals the size of the catalysts were in nano range and DRS shows the blue shift in optical absorption for the Fe-Bi2O3 catalyst. The Fe-Bi2O3 was identified …

A Review: Distortion Control in 20MnMoNi55 Material Using GTAW and SAW Process
Abstract: Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) is high quality and high precision welding process which is suitable for welding thin metals. Inert gases such as helium and argon, carbon dioxide, nitrogen etc. are used as shielding gases to prevent the weld bead from air, dust and other contaminations in welding. There are so many welding process parameters affecting the weld quality in GTAW. Important process parameters which mainly affect the weld …

Comparison of RSM and ANN Modeling Approaches in Predicting the Laser Phase Transformation Hardening Parameters on the Heat Input and Hardened-Bead Profile Quality of Unalloyed Titanium
Abstract: In the present work, laser transformation hardening (LTH) of unalloyed titanium, nearer to ASTM Grade 3 of chemical composition was investigated using CW 2kW, Nd: YAG laser. The laser process variables such as laser power, scanning speed, and focused position play a major role in deciding the laser hardened bead quality. Two methods, Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) were used to predict the heat input and …

Experimental Investigation of Hematite Fines Reduction to Magnetite with Coal and Coke Fines
Abstract: In this current investigation, we aimed to comprehensively examine how various key processing parameters influence the reduction of hematite particles enveloped by coal and coke fines. This reduction process took place in an externally heated cylindrical steel container, which we will call the "work tube." This work tube had a diameter of 70 mm and a height of 300 mm and was situated within a pot furnace. For the experimentation, …

Surface modification of polymeric membranes using plasma treatment: A comprehensive review
Abstract: In the contemporary science era, polymer membranes have a wide range of services. Polymeric membranes have very good bulk properties having potential applications in various processing industries. These membranes can be even modified using various techniques. The surface modifications of membranes to incorporate various hydrophilic functional groups without changing the bulk properties has gained popularity. The surface becomes hydrophilic because new polar functional groups are formed. For instance, after oxygen and …

Studies on Nanostructured Nickel Thin Film Coatings Deposited using Pulsed DC Magnetron Sputtering Process
Abstract: The purpose of this research work is to investigate the mechanical properties of nickel thin film. The nickel thin films were coated on glass substrate using pulse PDC power supply magnetron sputtering process in argon atmosphere. The effect of substrate temperature, effect of duty cycle and mechanical properties of nickel thinfilms has been presented in this paper. Coating deposited with substrate temperature at 250°C, had lower surface roughness (Ra<3 nm) …

Characterization and Mechanical Behavior of Sintered Al-Mg Powders
Abstract: The resolution of the work is to relate the characterization and mechanical properties for argon atomized Al-1wt%Mg powders through and not through lubricant 1 wt% graphite. Pure nitrogen sintering was accomplished and the effect of sintering atmosphere for the mixed Al-1%Mg powder compacts was examined. One weight percent graphite was premixed with the powder as a lubricant for the first set samples. However, no graphite was used for the second …
