Plant Adaptations to Drought Stress: Morphological, Physiological and Biochemical Responses
Abstract: Drought stress is one of the major abiotic constraints affecting plant growth, development, productivity and survival. Water deficiency disrupts cellular water relations and subsequently influences plant morphology, physiology, metabolism and molecular regulation. Plants respond to drought through a combination of adaptive mechanisms rather than through a single tolerance trait. Morphological responses include modification of root architecture, reduction in leaf area, leaf rolling, changes in shoot growth and altered biomass allocation. …

Role of Nitric Oxide in Platelets of Breast Carcinoma
Abstract: Breast cancer is a disease of multifactorial origin; it is seen frequently in women of older age, having family history, affluent society, late age of marriage and first childbirth, early menarche, late menopause, and nulliparity. Oxidative stress results when balance between reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and antioxidant defence is lost which result in mutations, sister chromatid exchanges, cytotoxicity, carcinogenesis etc. Clinical, experimental and epidemiological studies suggest that free radicals …

Study on Natural Defense System of the Body in Relation to Health and Longevity
Abstract: Health and longevity are a serious concern for human beings. During literature review it is observed that from ancient to present modern time day to day new research findings are coming related to the healthy longevity. Further many informations are available regarding the relations between nutrition, infections, exercise, pathogens, antioxidant and stresses with the health and longevity. No doubt these informations and research findings improve the health and also increases …

Flavonoid Contents and Antioxidant Activity of an Endophytic Bacteria Associated with Medicinal Plant Humulus lupulus
Abstract: Endophytes are symbiotic microorganisms, most often bacteria or fungi, that reside and multiply within plant tissues without inducing visible signs of disease or negatively affecting the host plant. Endophytic bacteria contribute to plant development by stimulating growth, strengthening defence mechanisms, enhancing tolerance to both abiotic and biotic stresses, and facilitating improved nutrient uptake. Endophytic bacteria serve as an important reservoir of bioactive compounds, notably antioxidant molecules, that play a crucial …

Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) in Breast Carcinoma
Abstract: Breast cancer is the leading problem around the world predominantly in developing parts. Oxidative stress plays a crucial role in carcinogenesis especially in breast carcinoma. Disbalance in free radical and antioxidants result in oxidative stress. Enzymes like Superoxide dismutase (SOD) are used as primary defence; they directly scavenge and inactivate reactive oxygen species (ROS). Keeping this in mind, this study has been designed to study SOD in breast carcinoma before …

A Novel Approach for Extraction of Polyphenols
Abstract: Polyphenols are class of compounds which are found in fruits, vegetables, walnuts, olives, tea leaves and many more. Polyphenols are antioxidant phyto-chemicals that prevent or neutralize the damaging effects of free radicals. They are secondary metabolites of plants and are generally involved in defence against ultra-violet radiation or aggression against pathogens. Polyphenols are various alcoholic compounds containing two or more benzene rings that each has at least one hydroxyl group …

Grape Seed Extract: Potent Chemoprotective Agent: Phytochemical Analysis and GC-MS Study
Abstract: Plant extracts or secondary metabolites have served as antioxidants in phytotherapeutic medicines to protect against various diseases for centuries. Phytochemicals are naturally occurring in the medicinal plants, leaves, vegetables and roots that have defence mechanism and protect from various diseases. Phytochemicals are primary and secondary compounds. Chlorophyll, proteins and common sugars are included in primary constituents and secondary compounds include terpenoids, alkaloids, quinines, flavonoids, sterols, saponins, tannins and phenolic compounds. …

Investigating mosquito innate immune defence mechanism towards malaria vaccine development
Abstract: Mosquito-borne diseases weigh heavily on public health across the globe. The mosquito’s innate immune system certainly decides whether malaria parasites survive inside the vector, and that sighted it as a logical place to discover new vaccine ideas. In this review, we examine how Anopheles mosquitoes defend themselves against Plasmodium parasites and how those defenses could be turned into tools for malaria control. We focus on three layers of immunity: antimicrobial …
