Study of Microstructural and Mechanical Properties of YSZ and YSZ/Al2O3 Nanopowders Synthesized by Solution Combustion Method
Abstract: AbstractIn the present work different compositions of nanocrystalline tetragonal zirconia stabilized with yttrium oxide (YSZ) have been produced by solution combustion route. Same compositions of YSZ with alumina doping have also been prepared by similar method. The nanopowders obtained are characterized by various characterization techniques like XRD, FTIR, SEM and Wilson Hardness testing techniques. XRD and FTIR analysis confirmed the tetragonal phase of calcined YSZ sample. The particle sizes are …

Synthesis of YSZ nanopowders by using PVA-metallic nitrate combustion method
Abstract: Yttria-stabilized zirconia (8YSZ) powder is widely used as a thermal barrier coatings material for various aeronautical gas turbine engine components and structures operating in high temperature environment as well as for the nozzle of solid rocket engine due to its relatively high thermal expansion coefficient, thermal reflectivity, low thermal and good corrosion resistance. The synthesis of single or composite metal oxides by combustion of metal-polyvinyl alcohol gel precursors (Me-PVA) has …

Combustion Synthesis of NiO-YSZ Precursor Nanocomposites for SOFC Anode and Its Characterization
Abstract: In the present work, the mixture of Nickel Oxide-Yttria Stabilized Zirconia (NiO-YSZ) composites of composition, mNiO–(1–m) Zr0⋅9Y0⋅1 O1⋅95 (m = 0⋅4), anode materials was synthesized by combustion process using glycine as fuel and nitrate as oxidizer. The study of prepared nanocomposites has been done by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential thermal analysis-thermo gravimetric analysis (DTA-TGA), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to determine the powder properties. The …

Experimental Investigation on Heat Transfer Characteristics of Thermal Barrier Coating on Aero Engine Components
Abstract: The gas turbine blades play a crucial role in harnessing energy from the high-temperature and highpressure gas generated by the combustor. To withstand this challenging environment, turbine blades often employ super-alloys and incorporate new manufacturing technologies such as Direct Solidification (DS) and Single Crystal (SC). Additionally, the development of advanced ceramic Thermal Barrier Coating (TBC) is imperative to achieve higher operating temperatures (>1200°C). Therefore, the primary focus of this study …

Comparative Study of Structural and Ionic Properties of Doped Zirconia Electrolytes for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells
Abstract: The current study looks at yttria and scandia doped zirconia electrolytes for application in solid oxide fuel cells. Samples with (i) 10 mol% yttria, (ii) 5 mol% yttria and 5 mol% scandia, and (iii) 10 mol% scandia in zirconia host lattice were prepared by mixed oxide method and were sintered by conventional heating at 1400°C for six hours. The samples were then analysed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron …
