Remediation of Condemn Oil Polluted Loamy Soil Using Azadirachta Indica (Neem)
Abstract: The remediation of condemn oil polluted loamy soil using neem (azadirachta indica) was investigated. The neem leaves came from Akpugo in the southeast Nigerian state of Enugu State's Nkanu West local government area. The leaves were dried at room temperature and subjected to grinding machine to obtain the powdered form of the dried leaves that serve as treatment to remediate condemn oil polluted loamy soil. Three masses 5g, 10g and …

Strengthening Low Voltage Ride-Through in Wind Energy Systems: A Comparative Study of DVR and STATCOM
Abstract: This study looks at the various methods used to improve the low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) capabilities of wind turbine systems (WT) that are based on double-fed induction generators (DFIG). The Type-III WT machine, which is mostly based on DFIG, is instantly connected to the grid without the digital power interface, making the terminal voltage or reactive electricity output unmanageable. This is because the world utilizes between 20% and 25% of renewable …

A Novel Approach for Power Generation from Ocean Waves Using Ratchet and Pawl Mechanism
Abstract: Renewable energy sources collectively contribute around 29% to 30% of global electricity generation. Solar and wind power’s intermittency and weather dependency pose challenges for unreliable energy generation, requiring storage solutions like batteries and environmental considerations. By considering the above-mentioned factors, ocean wave energy stands out as a promising and consistent renewable source. Ocean wave energy is highly predictable and consistent, offering a dependable power supply with minimal greenhouse gas emissions …

ANN-Based Adaptive Rotor Current Control for DFIG Wind Systems: A Comparative Dynamic Analysis
Abstract: The variability of rotor current management in Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG)-based wind energy conversion systems is crucial for maintaining stability in power extraction under fluctuating wind and grid circumstances. Traditional proportional-integral (PI) controllers, despite their ease of use, frequently exhibit diminished performance when faced with parameter uncertainty, nonlinear behaviors, and rapid wind fluctuations. This paper presents an adaptive rotor current control strategy, which is an Artificial Neural Network (ANN)-based approach …

Design and Implementation of the Double Fed Induction Generator in Sliding Mode
Abstract: These days, WECS is crucial to the production of electricity. Variable-speed wind turbines are the most often utilised type of wind turbine (DFIG). However, these machines are sensitive to voltage disturbances because their stator is directly connected to the grid. The oscillations produced in electromagnetic torque, active and reactive power during disturbances could damage the mechanical and electrical parts of the machine. Several control techniques are produced to control these …

Seasonal Variation in the Weibull Parameters from In Situ Measurements and Model: A Case Study in the Bay of Bengal
Abstract: Seasonal variation of wind speed (U10) and its distribution are essential for the design of wind energy converters (WEC). In this study, year-round wind speed observations from a deepwater moored buoy at a location in the Bay of Bengal are used to assess the potential for wind power generation and are used to validate the ERA5 model. Model-U10 distribution is confined to low wind speeds with high occurrence in the …

Closing the Loop: Innovative Strategies for Circular Economy and Sustainable Waste Management
Abstract: Africa’s growing waste crisis, especially in rapidly expanding cities across Nigeria, has made it increasingly clear that traditional “take–make–dispose” systems can no longer support sustainable development. This paper explores how shifting to a circular economy (CE) can transform waste from a persistent challenge into a valuable resource. Instead of seeing waste as an endpoint, the circular economy model encourages designing products for longer lifespans, rethinking consumption patterns, and recovering materials …
