Sulfur recovery process simulation and optimization
Abstract: Objective of this work is to simulate the sulfur recovery process by using the latest version of Aspen HYSYS V10 simulation program. Sulfur recovery model used in the simulation program is Claus three stage process. A total recovery of 97.85% sufur was recovered from the rich acid gas feed. The effects of H2S/SO2 ratio, outlet sulfur dew point margin, catalytic stage temperature, CS2 and COS concentrations, role of catalyst, acid …

Effect of Ta2O5 as a Support in Phosphotungstic Acid Catalysts for Vapor Phase Dehydration of Glycerol to Acrolein
Abstract: The Ta2O5 supported phosphotungstic acid (HPA) catalysts were investigated for vapor phase dehydration of glycerol to acrolein and materials were synthesized by impregnation method. The above HPA catalysts were characterized by Raman spectroscopy to identify the Keggin ion and temperature programmed desorption of ammonia to explore the acidity of the catalysts. The findings of Raman spectra shows that the Keggin ion of heteropolyacid intact with support. NH3-TPD results confirm that …

TiO2-ZrO2 Supported Nickel Oxide Catalysts for Hydrogenation of Levulinic Acid to -Valerolcatone
Abstract: The Titania-Zirconia (TZ) mixed oxide sample (50:50 wt.% percent) was prepared by a simple coprecipitation method and used as a support for the nickel catalyst. The various loadings of nickel content from 1 to 20 wt.% were synthesized for the production of γ-valerolactone (GVL) from levulinic acid (LA). Among all the tested samples, the 5 wt.% Ni/TZ sample exhibited the 98% conversion of LA and 96% selectivity to GVL and …

Gelatin-EiO2 (Ei = Si/Ti/Zr) Based Mesoporous Nano-hybrids: Synthesis and Characterization
Abstract: The hybrid materials are mostly prepared by combining the organic or bio-organic part to the inorganic building blocks and are used in many applications. Gelatin as one of the main component of hybrid materials is an attractive option. It is biodegradable; biocompatible; non-toxic; bio-adhesive and contains many active groups such as –NH2, –COOH, in the biopolymer backbone makes these hybrid materials important in various technological applications. The synthesis of a …
