Smart swab testing robotic arm
Abstract: Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), influenza, respiratory syncytial virus, Bordetella pertussis infection (whooping cough), Staphylococcus aureus infections of the nose and mouth, and various allergies are all possibilities. It is spread by respiratory droplets and close contact and is caused by an infection of extreme acute respiratory syndrome. To Coronavirus disease (COVID-19), influenza, respiratory syncytial virus, Bordetella pertussis infection (whooping cough), Staphylococcus aureus infections of the nose and mouth, and various allergies …

A Review on Current Scenario and Update on Vaccine for Covid-19
Abstract: Background: COVID-19 pandemic is caused by SARS-CoV-2 . The SARS-CoV-2 is a beta coronavirus belonging to the family of Coronaviridae. The outbreak of novel coronavirus had a major impact on health care professionals like physicians, pharmacist, microbiologist etc. Current scenario of detection of SARS-CoV-2(COVID-19) is made through a nasopharyngeal swab based on RT-PCR technique. Some novel recent studies suggest the evidence of the possible role of fluid which is present …

Diagnostic Modalities Used for Fungal Isolates Confirmed in Clinically Suspected Cases of Otomycosis: A Screening Study
Abstract: Otomycosis is one of the most attending ailed in ENT practice. Fungal infection of external auditory canal is called otomycosis. Discomfort or pain, itching, ear blockage and ear discharge are symptoms of otomycosis. Ear discharge is seen in the cases of bacterial otitis externa (Furuncle or diffuse otitis externa), otomycosis, acute otitis media, chronic otitis media, etc. So to confirm diagnosis of otomycosis, microbiology test of ear discharge is needed. …

Application Of Silver Nanoparticles On Experimental Wound Infection Of Pseudomonas aeruginosa In Rats
Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the application of silver nanoparticles on experimental wound infection of Pseudomonas aeruginosa in rats. Infected patients at a private hospital in Baghdad had fifty swab samples taken from their wounds and burns (25 samples in total). These swabs were cultured on primary medium and then routine bacteriological tests were done for identification. Molecular confirmation of bacteria was done by using 16S rRNA gene. The research …

Molecular Characterization of Respiratory Viral Infections and Co-Infections in Pediatric Patients Using FilmArray™ Multiplex PCR in a Tertiary-Care Hospital, South India
Abstract: Respiratory tract infections (RTIs) are a major cause of pediatric morbidity worldwide, with viruses, such as respiratory syncytial virus, rhinovirus/enterovirus, influenza virus, adenovirus, and parainfluenza virus, contribute significantly to hospitalizations. Conventional diagnostic methods often require prolonged processing times, which can delay clinical decision-making. Rapid molecular platforms, such as the FilmArray™ Panels, offer timely and comprehensive pathogen identification. This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence, seasonal trends, and co-infection patterns of …

Summer Outbreak of Influenza A (H1N1) at Tertiary Care Centre in Central India
Abstract: Background: Influenza is a highly contagious, acute, and febrile respiratory illness that occurs in epidemics and occasionally in pandemics. Post-pandemic resurgence with bi-modal peaks, a major peak in the rainy season, and a minor peak in the winter-spring season have been reported in India. However, a sudden increase in the number of cases of Influenza-like illness (ILI) was observed at our centre during the summer season. The study was conducted …

Incidence of Community acquired MRSA in the nasal swabs of general population of Gulbarga region
Abstract: Background: Methicillin resistant S. aureus (MRSA) has emerged as a major pathogen in both community and hospital settings. Nasal carriage of S. aureus represents a major risk factor for the development of infection with this bacterium. Objective: The aim was to study community acquired MRSA incidence among nasal swabs of general population of Gulbarga. Methods: Nasal swabs from anterior nares were collected for the isolation of S. aureus from 224 …

Evaluation of Respiratory Tract Infectious Pathogens and Their Antibiotic Sensitivity in a South Indian Hospital
Abstract: This study is aimed to determine prevalence of infectious agents causing respiratory tract infection (RTIs) and their sensitivity to antibiotics. The study was conducted in Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences of Kadapa in Andhra Pradesh in South India from December 2013 to May 2014. Patients who were clinically suspected of RTIs were included in the study. Sputum, throat swab and pleural fluid samples were collected aseptically from the patients …

Study of the Antibacterial Activity of Artemisia Absinthium against E. coli bacteria Isolated from Urinary Tract Infections
Abstract: Twenty clinically diagnosed samples were collected using transport medium swabs from the operating room at Al-Amal Specialized Laboratory in Iraq between November 2025 and February 10, 2026. Antibiotic susceptibility testing was performed on the 20 Escherichia coli samples. The results showed a clear difference in the bacterial isolates' response to the tested antibiotics. Imipenem demonstrated the highest inhibition rate, reaching 24.55% (100%), compared to the other antibiotics used in the …
