A STUDY ON MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF ALUMINIUM-4.5%COPPER ALLOY METAL MATRIX COMPOSITES REINFORCED WITH ALUMINA FIBERS USING SQUEEZE CASTING PROCESS
Abstract: Aim of the present investigation is to develop aluminium-4.5% copper alloy metal matrix composites by reinforcing with chopped alumina fibers in varying percentage like 10%, 20% and 30% and so on. The casting can be produced by using Squeeze casting process; these castings were studied for all its mechanical properties like tensile, hardness, wear and microstructure and corrosion analysis. It is observed that increase in reinforcement improves the mechanical properties …

Analysis of fabrication methods on Mg-based MMCs –A Review
Abstract: Magnesium is an essential material for resolving the applications in automotive applications such as in the use of gearbox bearings, casting dies etc. In the current studies, various researchers have made efforts to improvise the casting methods and to invent new fabrication procedures for Mg metal matrix composites (MMCs). This paper shows a basic study of fabrication methods of Mg-based MMCs. Such as pressureless infiltration, mechanical alloying, stir casting etc. …

Effect of Magnetic Field on Casting Parameters
Abstract: AbstractThe casting process is one of the oldest manufacturing methods involving squeezing / jolting the green sand used as moulding material, and further was developed with use of binders such as clay/organic resins. The constants search for newer moulding material lead to the magnetic mould involving steel shots and application of magnetic field. The preliminary trials on one of the process parameters i. e. Magnetic field was carried out and …

An Experimental Study on Multi-Criteria Parameters Optimization of Process for Al6351/SiC/Gr Metal Matrix Composites Using AHP-TOPSIS Approach
Abstract: This research focuses on optimizing the process parameters of Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) for a hybrid Metal Matrix Composite (MMC) comprising Al6351 aluminum alloy reinforced with 4% SiC and 6% graphite (Gr), fabricated via squeeze casting. This technique enables the formation of dense, defect-free composites with uniform reinforcement distribution, enhancing both mechanical properties and structural integrity. Microstructural characterization using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) confirmed the even dispersion and bonding …
