Solid Acid Catalysts for the Selective Conversion of Biomass to Levulinic Acid
Abstract: Levulinic acid (LA) has emerged as a versatile platform chemical with significant potential for producing renewable fuels like gamma-valerolactone (GVL), biodegradable polymers, and fine chemicals from biomass (both terrestrial and marine which ae rich in carbohydrate). The selective conversion of biomass-derived carbohydrates to LA requires efficient catalytic systems that can overcome the recalcitrance of the biomass, namely the stiff-necked structural integrity of cellulose and the kind of strong interactions between …

Preparation of Methyl Esters of Solid Acids from Litsea Consimilis
Abstract: This study focuses on the extraction and characterization of fatty acids from the seed oil of Litsea consimilis and their subsequent conversion into methyl esters. The oil demonstrated high iodine and Reichert-Meissl values, indicating a significant content of unsaturated and short-chain fatty acids. Glyceride analysis revealed that trilaurin constitutes over 90% of the triglycerides, confirmed through melting point analysis and hydrolysis yielding lauric acid as the sole component. The oil …

Solid acidity of MoO3 synthesized by solution combustion method and acetalization of formaldehyde using it
Abstract: MoO 3 nanoparticles were synthesized via solution combustion approach. Ammonium nitrate was used as oxidant and ammonium molybdate as fuel in combustion reaction. XRD, FTIR and Raman spectroscopy results showed that MoO 3 nanoparticles were successfully synthesized by the solution combustion reaction. The SEM analysis showed that synthesized MoO 3 nanoparticles have rod-like shape with width and thickness of 50-200nm and length of 0.2-1μm, respectively. The XRD pattern and morphology …

Influence of Catalyst Type and Reaction Conditions on Biodiesel Conversion of Pine and Soapnut Oils
Abstract: Biodiesel produced from non-edible oils is becoming an important replacement for petroleum diesel because it is renewable, environmentally friendly, and suitable for use in existing diesel engines. It helps reduce air pollution, lowers dependence on fossil fuels, and supports sustainable energy development. Pine oil and soapnut oil are two promising non-edible feedstocks because they are easy to obtain, inexpensive, and contain chemical compounds that can be effectively converted into biodiesel. …

Zeolite-Y Encapsulated Copper (II) and Cobalt (II) Species as Hybrid Nano-catalysts: Structural and Catalytic Aspects
Abstract: Special properties inherent to zeolites in facilitating the construction of novel upramolecular assemblies by encapsulation of guest molecules (metal complexes) into their large cages can be utilized to use these assembled materials as novel catalysts. These modified solids have the advantages of both behaving as the homogeneous and the heterogeneous catalytic system. In the present work, copper (II) and cobalt (II) complexes of 2-amino ethanoic acid (2-AEA) encapsulated in the …

Nucleonic Level Measurement in Fluid Catalytic Cracking Unit, Oil & Gas Refinery
Abstract: The measurement of ‘Level’ is crucial in an Industrial Process, as low levels can cause problems and damage equipment. In contrast, high levels can cause overflow and potentially create safety and environmental problems. When working with the Fluid Catalytic Cracking System Unit (FCCU) in Refineries, there are requirements for various types of level measurement instruments. One of them is the Nucleonic Level Measurement device used in the process involved in …
