Estrus (Heat) Detection Aids in Dairy Animals: A Review
Abstract: In India, as dairy technology is developing day by day, reproductive performance of dairy animals requires regular and accurate heat detection. Heat detection is very useful for proper timing of artificial insemination. Failure to detect estrus (heat) is a major contributing factor for low fertility. New technologies for the solution of this problem must be more effective than visual observation and aids currently used to detect estrus. This paper mainly …

Reproductive Efficiency of Introduced Gaddi Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) in Kalikot, Nepal
Abstract: Gaddi buffalo (Bubalus bubalis), indigenous to far-western hills with morphologically larger body and docile temperament is compared to Murrah, distinguished by white patch on forehead and switch. A study was carried out at Raskot Municipality of Kalikot district, Nepal to evaluate the effect of non-genetic factors on reproductive traits of introduced Gaddi on September, 2017 to May 2018. A total of 103 Gaddi buffaloes were purposively selected and survey was …

Reproductive Traits Evaluation of Lime Buffalo (Bubalus bubalis) in Western Hills of Nepal
Abstract: The data pertaining to variable reproduction traits of Lime buffaloes were collected from Baglung and Gulmi during January, 2017 and March, 2018 for evaluation. Total 182 buffalo samples from Baglung and Gulmi were selected and data were collected using semistructured questionnaire and farmers record. Data entry and data analysis was done by using MS-Excel and R-statistical package, respectively. The least square mean comparison was done using Duncan’s multiple range test. …

Development of a New Kisspeptin Based Method of Ovulation Synchronization for Crossbred Dairy Heifers
Abstract: The aim of the present study was to develop a new method of synchronization of estrus/ovulation for crossbred cows based on kisspeptin, a potent secretagogue of GnRH. For the purpose, a total of 108 estrous cycles were studied in cyclic heifers. The animals divided equally in to two groups were treated either with ovsynch protocol of estrus synchronization (group-I; GnRH: day 0; PGF2α: day 7 and GnRH: day 9) or …

Climate-Induced Infertility in Dairy Cows: Pathways, Challenges, and Solutions for Sustainable Dairy Development
Abstract: Climate change has emerged as a significant challenge to dairy production, with profound implications for reproductive performance in dairy cows. The interplay of rising temperatures, fluctuating rainfall patterns, and increased frequency of extreme weather events disrupts key physiological, nutritional, and behavioral processes essential for fertility. Heat stress alters hormonal balance, impairs oocyte and embryo quality, reduces estrus expression, and affects pregnancy outcomes. Concurrently, climate-induced nutritional deficits, immune suppression, and increased …
