Tropical Medicine and Leishmaniasis: Unraveling the Complexities of a Neglected Tropical Disease
Abstract: Protozoan parasites of the genus Leishmania are the cause of the vector-borne disease leishmaniasis, which poses a serious threat to global public health in tropical and subtropical areas. Despite being common and having a significant effect on human health, leishmaniasis is still a neglected tropical disease, with little funding available for investigation and prevention. This article examines the relationship between leishmaniasis and tropical medicine, emphasizing the particular difficulties this intricate …

Common Diseases of Silkworm and Their Management – A Comprehensive Overview
Abstract: Silkworms (Bombyxmori L.), pivotal to the sericulture industry, are susceptible to various diseases that significantly impact cocoon production and quality. Common silkworm diseases include viral, bacterial, fungal, and protozoan infections. Prominent viral diseases, such as nuclear polyhedrosis (NPV) and cytoplasmic polyhedrosis (CPV) often cause mass mortality in larvae. Bacterial diseases, like flacherie, are typically induced by poor hygiene and environmental stress. Fungal infections, including muscardine caused by Beauveria bassiana, proliferate …

Didymophyes bayaramae sp.nov., a new septate gregarine (Protozoa: Apicomplexa) from Aphis fabae of Manipur
Abstract: The protozoa septate gregarines infect the midgut of Aphis fabae and cause severe infection to the intestinal tissues of the host. During a biodiversity survey on the septate gregarines parasite by the Aphud groups, we collected specimens of Aphis fabae from a bean farm in Imphal, Manipur, India. We dissected the host and isolated some protozoan parasites from the host's midgut. We encountered a new species of septate gregarine, Didymophyses …

Tsetse Flies and African Trypanosomiasis: Biology, Epidemiology, and Integrated Vector Control.
Abstract: Tsetse flies (Glossina spp.) are hematophagous dipterans confined to sub-Saharan Africa and serve as cyclical vectors of human African trypanosomiasis (HAT) and African animal trypanosomiasis (AAT), with major implications for human health, livestock productivity, and rural development. An integrated understanding of tsetse biology, parasite transmission, climate, and land–use–driven distribution shifts, and the comparative performance of control tools—especially insecticides and sterile insect technique (SIT)—is essential for designing sustainable elimination strategies. HAT …
