COMPOSITION, RADIATION DOSE AND TEMPERATURE DEPENDENT DEGRADATION STUDIES OF POLYAMIDE 6 HOMOPOLYMER AND COPOLYMERS
Abstract: Composition radiation dose temperature dependency on free radicals generated in PA6, PA6/ PA12 copolymer, has been investigated by electron spin resonance (ESR) and FTIR techniques. ESR spectra of -irradiated PA6 has shown complex shaped and number of hyperfine lines is observed to be in between 6-10. This complex spectrum is assigned to macro-radicals of the type ~CH2CHCH2~, which in principle has to give a ten line ESR spectrum. However, due …

Feasibility Study of Thermoplastic nanocomposites for ESD Applications Using Additive manufacturing
Abstract: This research aims at developing a polyamide 6 nanocomposite with good combination of electrical resistivity and structural integrity that can be utilized for electrostatic discharge applications. Polyamide 6 modified with 3wt%, 5wt% and 7wt% graphene nanoplatelets (NGP) were melt blended using a co-rotating twin screw extruder and filaments of size 1.75mm were obtained. The specimens were printed using fused deposition modelling technique according to standards for electrical resistivity and tensile …

Spectroscopic, Thermal and Morphological Properties of Pa6 Copolymers
Abstract: Spectroscopic, thermal and morphological properties of PA6/PA12 copolymers have been reported in the present study. FTIR studies indicate the chemical interaction occurring between PA6 and PA12 homopolymers. Thermal properties of copolymers have been investigated by DTA technique. Among the PA6 copolymer, hydrolyzed PA6 has more Tg and Tm then the copolymer. Thermal degradation of copolymer is studied by TGA and DTG technique. The studies suggest that hydrolyzed PA6 has more …

Structure–Property-Guided Polymer–Metal Hybrid Design of a Wall Plastering Spray Assembly
Abstract: Wall plastering spray equipment requires a combination of low mass, dimensional stability, abrasion resistance, chemical compatibility with cementitious mortar, and comfortable operator interaction. The original assembly was primarily developed as a metallic mechanical system; however, a polymer-focused material architecture can reduce non-load-bearing mass while retaining a safe metallic pressure path. This study, therefore, presents a structure–property-guided polymer–metal hybrid design in which the pressure housing and nozzle insert remain metallic, whereas …

White Wine Clarification using Ceramic Membranes and Composites by Microfiltration
Abstract: Microfiltration and tangential ultrafiltration applied to wine filtration have become important alternatives to the conventional filtration processes in the wine industry, to obtain beverage with acceptable characteristics for the consumer and viable for industries. Therefore, white wine permeability tests were performed in this work using α-alumina ceramic membranes and composite membranes (ceramic polymer) in order to determine the influence of the structure of the filter media in the permeate white …
