Drilling Fluid Characterization (Filtration Test)
Abstract: This report explores the formulation and testing of a water-based drilling mud used in drilling operations, where fluid circulates through the drillstring and returns to the surface. The study mixes 315 ml of water with 35 ml of corn oil to create the drilling mud and investigates the role of barite in increasing mud density to maintain a hydrostatic pressure capable of managing formation pressure. The findings reveal that increasing …

Use of Coconut Fibre as a Suitable pH and Rheology Enhancer
Abstract: This paper studied the use of coconut fibre as a substitute for caustic soda in drilling fluids for the improvement of pH in a water-based mud. The coconut coir was dried in the sun for 7 hours and ground into very fine particles, after which it was placed in an electronic oven at a temperature of 105°C for 1 hour to remove any remaining moisture. Sieving using a 200 mm …

A Ponder & Sedulousness Of Legion Shale Stabilizing Materials In Aqueous Based Drilling Fluid During The Process Of Borehole Strengthening
Abstract: Drilling fluid used while drilling the layers of shale will have the potential of reacting with water which tends to increase stickiness, induce swelling and promote sloughing of the borehole. This results in the reduction of drilling fluid circulation, increased mud loss, increase in torque and drag, reduction in lubricity. This will ultimately result in the increase of Non-Productive Time (NPT) during drilling which in turn increases Capital Expenditure (CAPEX) …

Advances in Nanocellulose-Enhanced Polymers and Composites: Structure, Performance, and Applications
Abstract: The most common biopolymer is cellulose, which can be converted into nanocellulose (NC) the sustainable nanomaterial possessing the outstanding characteristic of biodegradability, renewability, low density, high aspect ratio, and excellent mechanical performance. Such distinctive features make NC a promising filler in polymer and composite systems. Recent developments in the preparation of nanocellulose using various natural and artificial sources have facilitated scalable production processes that have less energy requirements and are …

An Experimental Investigation of Impact of Polyproplene as a Partial Replacement in Concrete
Abstract: India, as a developing nation, will require high-strength and high-performance concrete for future infrastructure projects. Fibrous concrete, which incorporates fibers to enhance structural integrity, is one such material that could meet these demands. With different concrete fibrous materials, shapes, distributions, orientations, and densities, fibrous concrete takes on different characteristics. Polypropylene is a lightweight synthetic fiber that enhances the structural strength of concrete and helps prevent the formation of cracks. In …
