A Pre-experimental Evaluation of a Structured Educational Program on Awareness of Mosquito-borne Diseases in Senior Secondary School Students in Punjab
Abstract: Introduction: Mosquitoes constitute the most important single family of insects from the standpoint of human health. They are found all over the world. The four important groups of mosquitoes in India that are related to disease transmission are the Anopheles, Culex, Aedes, and Mansonia. Zika Virus: Long-term Effects and Vaccine Development Efforts
Abstract: Zika virus (ZIKV) is a mosquito-borne flavivirus that gained international concern following the 2015-2016 outbreak in the Americas. Although most ZIKV infections are asymptomatic or mild, the virus presents significant public health risks due to its ability to cause severe neurological complications, especially in pregnant women and their offspring.Congenital Zika Syndrome (CZS) encompasses a range of fetal abnormalities, including microcephaly, vision impairment, hearing loss, and developmental delays. Infants exposed to …

Climate-Driven Shifts in Vector-Borne Disease Ecology Across South Asia
Abstract: Climate change remains one of the most important phenomena affecting the geographical distribution and movement patterns of vector-borne diseases. In South Asia – characterized by high population density, rich biodiversity, and sharp climatic differences – there is growing evidence of the relationship between increasing temperatures and erratic precipitation, along with the behavior of insect vectors. This research aims to evaluate the effects of climate environmental changes on the distribution and …

Vector-Borne Disease Risk Assessment Among Households: A Cross-Sectional Epidemiological Investigation
Abstract: The study was conducted to assess the risk of vector-borne diseases among households of the selected ward of Athirampuzha Panchayath, Kottayam. Objectives of the study were to assess the percentage of houses infested with larvae or pupae of mosquito (house index (HI): total number of positive houses/total houses × 100), to identify the percentage of water holding containers infested with larvae or pupae of mosquito (container index (CI): total number …

Investigating mosquito innate immune defence mechanism towards malaria vaccine development
Abstract: Mosquito-borne diseases weigh heavily on public health across the globe. The mosquito’s innate immune system certainly decides whether malaria parasites survive inside the vector, and that sighted it as a logical place to discover new vaccine ideas. In this review, we examine how Anopheles mosquitoes defend themselves against Plasmodium parasites and how those defenses could be turned into tools for malaria control. We focus on three layers of immunity: antimicrobial …

Japanese Encephalitis and Dengue Fever Co-infection
Abstract: Dengue virus (DENV) and Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) are two significant pathogenic viruses that can cause severe encephalitis. Dengue and Japanese encephalitis are vector-borne illnesses.Arboviruses that are carried by mosquitoes are significant India's causes of death and morbidity The rainy season, when the vector population grows, is when both dengue and Japanese encephalitis transmissions peak. We still don't fully understand how the CNS is involved in dengue and Japanese encephalitis …
