The Effects of Physiochemical Parameters and Microbial Counts on Metal Coupons Corrosions in Freshwater Environment at Different Water Depths
Abstract: The effect of water quality on metal coupon corrosion was investigated at the New Calabar River in Choba. The study examined metal corrosion rates at five different depths: 30 cm, 60 cm, 90 cm, 120 cm, and 150 cm in a freshwater environment. Water samples were collected at each depth and analyzed for physicochemical and microbial parameters to understand their impact on metal degradation. Key parameters measured included pH, Electrical …

Influence of Mechanical Parameters on Corrosion Behavior of Metal Coupons in Simulated Environmental Conditions
Abstract: This study investigates the influence of mechanical parameters—namely applied stress, surface roughness, and deformation history—on the corrosion behavior of metal coupons exposed to corrosive environments. Mild steel and aluminum alloy specimens were prepared with controlled variations in tensile stress, polishing grades, and cold-working levels to simulate real-world mechanical influences. These coupons were immersed in a 3.5% NaCl solution under ambient conditions, and their corrosion rates were monitored over a 30-day …

Evaluation of Metal Coupons Corrosions in Fresh Water Environment at Different Water Depths Using Finite Element Analysis
Abstract: This research addressed the effects of water depths and quality on corrosion of submerged metal structures in the water body considering environmental conditions. The depths considered were 30cm to 150cm. Four different metal coupons were selected (Mild Steel, Copper Steel, Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel] Galerkin`s finite element techniques was applied to evaluate the relationship between diffusion and weight loss, also velocity and weight loss at different water depths. The …
