Analysis of Process Parameters for Dissimilar Metal Welding Using MIG Welding: A Review
Abstract: The base on which automobile engine is placed is called trolley. Trolley is a type of structure in which various support parts like main channel, support channel, shaft-bar, hook angle, handle etc. are connected by using MIG welding process. Trolley has a capacity to place 18 kg engine weight, and is made of two metal parts i.e. mild steel and hot rolled steel (i.e. MS, HR). The paper deals with …

Simultaneous Optimization of MIG Welding Process Parameters Using Taguchi with Principle Component Analysis
Abstract: The aim is to verify the optimum parameters in MIG welding of mild steel for achieving the best result. The three parameters taken for welding are welding current (WC), welding speed (WS) and voltage (V) at three levels. The various parameters which have been used here are modeled by performing experiments in principal component analysis (PCA) based on Taguchi. On applying principle component analysis (PCA),all the input factors are converted …

Study of Shielded Gases for MIG Welding
Abstract: Protecting shielding gases are inert or semi-inert gasses that are regularly utilized in few welding forms, mostly in gas metal arc welding and gas tungsten arc welding (GMAW and GTAW, more prevalently known as MIG and TIG, respectively). Their purpose is to shield the weld region from oxygen, and water vapour. Contingent upon the materials being welded, these air gases can diminish the quality of the weld or make the …

A Review on Metal Inert Gas Welding of Dissimilar Steels
Abstract: Joining of dissimilar metals has found its use extensively in power generation, electronic, nuclear reactors, petrochemical and chemical industries due to environmental concerns, energy saving, high performance, cost saving and so on. However efficient welding of dissimilar metals has posed a major challenge due to difference in thermal, mechanical and chemical properties of the materials to be joined under a common welding condition. This causes a steep gradient of the …

Minimization of Distortion During Gas Metal Arc Welding Process: A Review
Abstract: The gas metal arc welding (MIG) process is widely used in many appliances because of its versatility. For GMAW process, metals like carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminium, copper, low-alloy steel are widely used in all positions. Butt joint, lap joint, T-joint, edge joint, corner joint are the common types of joints used in welding. The change of shape and dimensions that occur after welding is known as distortion that leads …

An overview of dissimilar metals welding by cold metal transfer technique
Abstract: Cold Metal Transfer (CMT) welding has emerged as a promising technique for joining dissimilar materials, offering enhanced weld quality and mechanical properties. This review article explores the application of CMT welding in joining different metal alloys, focusing on two significant cases: magnesium-aluminium and aluminium-stainless steel combinations. CMT welding minimizes intermetallic compound formation and produces high-strength joints in magnesium-aluminium combinations. CMT welding with a friction-surfaced aluminum coating offers strong metallurgical bonding …
