A Comparative Techno-economic Analysis of Hydrogen Production Processes from Locally Available Resources in Nigeria
Abstract: In this work we report result of techno-economic analyses of three hydrogen production pathways - Steam Methane Reforming (SMR), SMR with Carbon Capture (SMR+CC) and Proton Exchange Membrane electrolysis (PEM) – using integrated process-cost simulation-estimation methodologies. Process modeling and simulation is performed with Aspen Hysys® and Aspen Plus® (V10). Cost modeling and estimation is based on full lifecycle cost of production using the Levelized Cost of Hydrogen (LCOH) approach. Feedstock …

A Survey on Hydrogen Storage System using Composite Material and its Alloys
Abstract: The transition to a carbon-neutral energy landscape hinges on the ability to store hydrogen safely, densely, and reversibly. While high-pressure tanks and cryogenic vessels dominate today’s infrastructure, solid-state storage in metallic alloys offers a compelling alternative by combining high gravimetric capacity with intrinsic safety to form a composite material. This work presents a systematic investigation of a family of reversible hydrogen-absorbing composite material alloys—principally Mg-based intermetallics (Mg₂Ni, MgFeMn) and TiV-based …

Framework-Based Optimization of Catalysis Efficiency through Reaction Pathway Engineering
Abstract: The rational design of heterogeneous catalysts through framework-based approaches has emerged as a transformative strategy for controlling reaction pathways and enhancing catalytic efficiency. This paper examines recent advances in the optimization of catalytic performance through engineered frameworks, including metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), zeolites, and related porous materials. By integrating computational methods with experimental validation, researchers have achieved unprecedented control overactive site architecture, reactant confinement, and elementary reaction steps. This work reviews …

Activated Carbon Materials as Ideal Adsorbents for the Desulfurization of Fossil Fuels
Abstract: Removal of organosulfur compounds from diesel is of interest from scientific, social, economic, and environmental viewpoints. Production of clean fuel remains a primary goal of the petroleum refining industry. The reduction of sulfur content below stringent ppm levels in diesel fuels becomesincreasingly challenging due to the presence of sterically hindered sulfur compounds, such as 4,6- dialkyldibenzothiophenes, which are resistant to removal over conventional supported mixed sulfide hydrodesulfurization catalysts. Consequently, alternative …
