Assessment of the Effects of Invasive Alien Species on Pastoralist’s Communities Livelihood and Coping Mechanism in Yabello Woreda Borena Zone of Oromia Region, Southern Ethiopia
Abstract: The existence of invasive alien species (IAS) puts substantial pressures to ecosystems in global scale. As a result, coping mechanisms to halt the effects of invasive alien species has been the major strategy in resource poor country recently. Therefore, the overall objective of this study was to assess the effects of Invasive alien species on pastoralist’s community’s livelihood and coping mechanism in Yabello Woreda Borena Zone of Oromia Region, Southern …

Invasive Fish Species in India: Challenges, Threats and Impacts
Abstract: There are 31 invasive alien fish species introduced in India for aquaculture purposes, as well as over 600 varieties of ornamental aquarium fishes. Invasions of exotic freshwater fishes have had a negative impact on fish biodiversity. The estimated annual average production of alien species fit for human consumption amounts to approximately 18.2 to 34.5 percent of the annual average production of marketable fish cultures. Many more changes are expected as …

Status and Distribution of Major Invasive Plant Species in the Dehradun Region of the Uttarakhand Himalaya
Abstract: Invasive alien plant species are widely recognized as one of the major threats to global biodiversity and ecosystem stability. Their rapid spread and ability to adapt to different environmental conditions allow them to dominate natural habitats and disrupt ecological balance. The present study examines the status and distribution of major invasive plant species in the Dehradun region of Uttarakhand, which is situated in the Himalayan foothills of northern India. Field …

Impact of invading fish on native species
Abstract: The term "alien species" refers to organisms that have been intentionally or unintentionally introduced outside of their natural range. These organisms have the ability to establish self-sustaining populations, spread beyond the initial point of introduction, and have a negative impact on the environment and the economy. Through crossbreeding with closely related native species, these fish with diverse genetic make-up cause the formation of a new group of organisms with different …
