Cubic B-splines for Isogeometric Analysis of Laminated Composite Plates Subjected to Hygroscopic Loading Using Classical Laminated Plate Theory
Abstract: Composite laminates are inevitably used in several engineering structures due to their high strength and stiffness to weight ratio. The laminates are subjected to change in moisture content and the flexural behavior leads to change in the strength. Presence of moisutre may induce residual stresses and strains. Isogeometric analysis is a well-proven method to perform analysis of laminated composite plates. The main focus of this study is to apply isogeometric …

Polymer Composite-Assisted Crystal Engineering for Drug Synthesis and Property Control through Solid Solutions and Co-Crystals
Abstract: The long-standing problem of low aqueous solubility, which affects about 90% of all new drug molecules under development, requires an immediate need for alternative approaches apart from the usual practice of crystallization. Polymer-composite-assisted crystal engineering is a novel technique for overcoming the aforementioned problem. This involves the addition of accepted pharmaceutical polymers, such as HPMC, PVP, PEG, and Eudragit copolymers in a single process, which can promote nucleation, stabilize the …

Advances in Polymer Chemistry for Zinc Oxide Nanoparticle-Based Composites in Moisture Sensing Applications
Abstract: In present scenario the application of Polymer chemistry is various domain. It is used in sensing the moisture. This paper explores the synthesis and application of zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NP) deposited on polymer-based hygroscopic substrates to enhance the dielectric properties of capacitive sensors. The novel composite material, comprising ZnO-NP and cellulose-based substrates, offers superior moisture sensitivity, stability, and cost-effectiveness compared to conventional sensing materials. The synthesis process involves the controlled …

Engineering Sustainable Interior Materials: Performance Analysis of PLA Composites Reinforced with Banana Stem Fiber and Spent Coffee Grounds
Abstract: This study presents the development and classification of eco-friendly composite panels reinforced with spent coffee grounds (SCG) and banana stem fibers (BSF) for interior applications. Hybrid composites were fabricated using polylactic acid (PLA) as the matrix with a constant filler loading of 30 wt%, varying BSF:SCG ratios (70:30, 60:40, 50:50). Mechanical testing revealed that the 70:30 composite exhibited the highest tensile strength (42 MPa) and flexural strength (58 MPa), whereas …

Growth of Cu2O on TCO by SILAR method acts as an alternative buffer electrode layer towards the development of organic solar cell
Abstract: In many types of optoelectronic devices, layer of PEDOT: PSS is sandwiched between the indium-tin oxide (ITO) electrode and the active layer. Buffer PEDOT: PSS provides a well- defined work function which is higher than that of ITO (4.2eV), it smooths the ITO surface and so avoids shorts, and it also protects the active layer from ingress of indium or oxygen, leading to longer device lifetimes. The role of PEDOT: …
