Effect of Polymer Crosslinking on Drug Release Kinetics
Abstract: In order to improve treatment effectiveness and minimise adverse effects, polymer-based drug delivery systems are often used to produce regulated and sustained drug release. Polymer crosslinking, which alters the structural, mechanical, and degrading characteristics of the polymer matrix, is one of the key elements affecting drug release kinetics. The porosity, swelling behaviour, and rate of degradation of the polymer are all impacted by the crosslinking process, which may be accomplished …

Chitosan polymer and composites Hydrogels: An Emerging Approach for Microplastic Elimination from Water
Abstract: Hydrogel is a polymer network which can retain huge volumes of water but still retains its shape because of its special chemical formula. Recently, hydrogels have become an object of great interest for environmental remediation due to the possibility of controlling their physicochemical properties in the case of removal of microplastics. The current work reviews and analyzes the efficiency of application of conventional coagulation systems based on chitosan and new …

Structure–Property Relationships in Poly (N isopropylacrylamide) Hydrogels: Toward Thermoresponsive Polymer Composites
Abstract: Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAAm) hydrogels can shift from solid to gel and back again at body temperature. Due to their lack structural integrity, thermal stability, and mechanical strength, they are difficult to use. This study mixed PNIPAAm with biocompatible fillers like chitosan and silicon nanoparticles to create hydrogels with superior structure-property correlations. Free radical polymerization with ammonium persulfate/TEMED initiator and N,N′-methylenebisacrylamide crosslinker produced the composites. Scanning electron microscopy showed a denser, interconnected …

Synthesis and Characterization of pH-Sensitive Poly (N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic Acid) Hydrogels for Controlled Release of Doxorubicin
Abstract: pH-responsive polymeric hydrogels have attracted significant attention as intelligent biomaterials for site-specific and controlled drug delivery in cancer therapy due to their ability to respond to the acidic tumor microenvironment. In the present study, poly (N-isopropylacrylamide-co-acrylic acid) [P(NIPAM-co-AAc)] hydrogels were synthesized via free radical copolymerization and systematically characterized to evaluate their suitability for controlled delivery of doxorubicin, a widely used chemotherapeutic agent. The copolymer hydrogels were prepared using N-isopropylacrylamide and …

IoT-Enabled Polymer–Gel PCM Composites for Intelligent Thermal Management in Solar Facade Applications
Abstract: The present study investigates the development of a multifunctional polymer–gel phase change composite designed for solar façade applications with integrated real-time thermal monitoring capability. A crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol–borax matrix was employed as a three-dimensional polymer scaffold to encapsulate paraffin-based phase change material, ensuring leakage-free operation and structural integrity under repeated thermal cycling. Graphite nanoplatelets were incorporated as thermally conductive nano-fillers to enhance heat transfer through the polymer composite via percolation-driven …
