Factors Affecting Farmers Participation in Soil and Water Conservation Practices at Qenshiben Watershed Central Ethiopia
Abstract: Soil erosion is among the foremost causes of declining soil resources in Ethiopia, which in turn affect agricultural productivity. To limit this problem, for the last two decades’ soil and water conservation measures have been practiced via free labor community mass-mobilization program. Following the launch of the program, farmers massively and voluntarily implemented soil and water conservation measures on the farm lands at different parts of the country. Participation of …

A Gamified Digital Platform for Sustainable Farming Practices: Simulation, Statistical Analysis, and Water Resource Management Implications
Abstract: Sustainable farming practices play a critical role in enhancing agricultural water use efficiency, conserving limited water resources, and ensuring long-term food security under increasing environmental and climatic pressures. Despite their importance, farmer participation in conventional agricultural extension and training programs remains limited due to low engagement and a lack of sustained motivation. To address this challenge, this study proposes a gamified digital decision-support platform aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural and …

On-Farm Demonstration of Improved Sorghum (Sorghum bicolor L. Moench) Technologies in Cluster based Large scale Approaches at Gofa Zone, Southern Ethiopia
Abstract: Sorghum is used as a source of food and cash for smallholder farmers in drought phrone areas of Gofa Zone. Farmers produce sorghum traditionally without proper management and input use and as a result yield obtained by farmers was far below the crop potential. Therefore, Arba Minch Agricultural Research Center carried out a cluster-based large-scale demonstration of improved sorghum in Melo-Koza and Zala Districts of the Gofa Zone in Southern …

Psychological Determinants of Farmers’ Adoption of Sustainable Practices: A Behavioural Approach to Agricultural Extension
Abstract: Sustainable agriculture has emerged as a global priority to balance productivity with environmental conservation. Yet, adoption of sustainable practices by farmers remains uneven, shaped not only by economic incentives but by underlying psychological and behavioural factors. This review explores the psychological determinants influencing farmers’ willingness to adopt sustainable agricultural practices across traditional and modern contexts. Drawing upon behavioural theories such as the Theory of Planned Behaviour and the Diffusion of …
