Machining Performance and Tool Wear Behaviour of 3D Carbon Fibre-Reinforced Silicon Carbide Composites
Abstract: 3D Cf/SiC composites, consisting of carbon fibers reinforced with silicon carbide are increasingly used in aerospace and defence due to their excellent mechanical properties and high-temperature strength. However, their heterogeneous, anisotropic, and abrasive nature makes them difficult to machine, resulting in accelerated tool degradation and poor surface integrity. This study explores the dry milling performance of 3D Cf/SiC composites using polycrystalline diamond (PCD) and cubic boron nitride (CBN) cutting tools. …

Driving Safety Performance and Business Resilience in India’s Agro and Food-Processing Industries: Integrating Safety Culture, Behaviors-Based Safety and Proactive Risk Management
Abstract: Food-processing safety depends on more than machinery safeguards, statutory compliance and written procedures. It is also shaped by leadership priorities, worker participation, supervisory practice, reporting climate and everyday decisions at the point of work. Behaviors-Based Safety (BBS) offers a structured means of observing critical behaviors, providing feedback and generating operational learning, but it can become counterproductive when it individualizes blame or substitutes for engineering and process-safety controls. This conceptual review …

Experimental Analysis of the Effect of Fine Milled Husk of Rice as a Novel Filtration Control Agent for Water Based Drilling Fluid System
Abstract: Drilling operation is a complex process that requires integration of various engineering systems. As the drilling continues, the formation encountered offers challenges to wellbore integrity as pressure increases with depth. The influx of formation fluid is contained by the overbalance provided by weighted drilling fluid column. Another critical function of the mud is to restrict the filtration fluid lost to the formation by forming a suitable mud-cake around the wellbore. …

Sustainable Manufacturing: The Role of Additive Technologies in Waste Reduction
Abstract: Additive manufacturing (AM) is transforming modern manufacturing by significantly reducing material waste while enabling highly efficient production processes. Unlike conventional subtractive manufacturing methods—such as cutting, drilling, and milling—which remove excess material and generate large volumes of scrap, AM constructs objects layer by layer, depositing material only where required. This precise material placement minimizes waste generation and supports resource-efficient production, making AM a critical technology for sustainable industrial development. Beyond waste …
