Optimization of gas sensitivity of CuO/carbon composites with carbon particles synthesized from acacia auriculiformis branches
Abstract: Carbon particles fabricated from the core of acacia tree branches were utilized to synthesize CuO/carbon composite films. The gas sensing properties of these films grown on glass substrates using the doctor blade method were measured in 1000 ppm of methanol vapor at the room temperature. All the films were annealed at 75 0C for 1 hour in air. The structure, the optical band gap and the surface morphology of the …

Synthesis and Characterization of Sustainable, Low-Cost, Biomass-Derived Carbon Films from Hevea Brasiliensis (Rubber) Wood for Environmentally Friendly Gas Sensors with Enhanced Selectivity and Sensitivity to Polar Vapors and Hazardous Gases
Abstract: Hevea brasiliensis (rubber) wood sawdust was utilized to fabricate carbon gas sensors for detecting 1000 ppm of ethanol, methanol, acetone, carbon dioxide, and ammonia gases. The carbon particles were prepared by phosphoric acid impregnation followed by thermal activation and then fabricated into films on conductive and non-conductive substrates using the doctor blade method. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed distinct graphitic features with peaks at the (002) and (100) planes, indicating …

Gas Sensors Fabricated using Carbon Powder Derived from Dried Banana Peels Waste to detect Methanol, Ethanol, Acetone Vapors and Carbon Dioxide Gas
Abstract: Low cost and environmentally friendly activated carbon powder was synthesized using waste banana peels. Phosphoric acid was utilized as activation agent. Doctor blade method was employed to fabricate films of activated carbon on conductive or nonconductive glass substrates. Films were subsequently annealed at 70 0C for 30 minutes in air. According to XRD patterns, single phase of activated carbon was crystallized in thin film form. Carbon prepared from banana peels …

Enhancement of Gas Sensitivity of Composites of Carbon Derived from Rubber Tree and SnO2 to Detect Ethanol Vapor at Room Temperature
Abstract: Films of composites of activated carbon powder prepared from saw dust derived from core of rubber tree (Hevea Brasiliensis) and tin oxide (SnO2) were fabricated using the doctor blade method. Carbon powder was activated using phosphoric acid at 500°C for 45 minutes. The weight ratio carbon/SnO2 varied from 0 to 12% in steps of 2. The structural, optical and morphological properties of films were investigated using XRD patterns, UV-visible spectrums …

Mn Doping–Induced Enhancement of Ethanol Gas Sensitivity in CuO/Cu₂O/Cu Composites
Abstract: A composite of CuO/Cu2O/Cu was synthesized by heating cupric acetate up to 600 °C for 2 hours in air. The properties of pure CuO films and CuO/Cu2O/Cu films were compared. Films were fabricated by the doctor blade method. Polyethylene glycol was used as a binder to prepare films. Mn was doped to composite to enhance the gas sensing properties. Compositions of Mn doped samples were confirmed using XRFS. According to …

Polymer-Based Transparent Conductive Composites for Flexible Solar Panel Coatings
Abstract: This study investigates the fabrication and characterization of polymer-based transparent conductive composites (PTCCs) tailored for flexible solar panel coatings using poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) matrices reinforced with silver nanowires (AgNWs), multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), and PEDOT:PSS. The composites were synthesized through a solution blending and doctor-blade casting method followed by post-treatments to enhance interfacial bonding and conductivity. Optical transmittance values above 85% were achieved across all composite …

Enhanced Room-Temperature Gas Sensing Performance of 2% Mn-Doped Sri Lankan Natural Graphite Thin-Film Sensors for Ammonia, Acetone, and Ethanol vapors Detection
Abstract: The development of room-temperature gas sensors with high sensitivity, fast response, and low-cost remains a critical challenge for environmental monitoring and safety applications. In this work, we report the fabrication and characterization of a 2% Mn-doped Sri Lankan natural graphite thin-film sensor for the detection of ammonia (NH3), ethanol (C2H5OH), and acetone (C3H6O) vapors under ambient conditions. The sensor was prepared using the doctor-blade coating method on Indium Tin Oxide …

Semiconducting Materials for Emerging Electronics and Technological Applications
Abstract: Semiconducting materials are important for emerging electronic and photovoltaic technologies because their structural, optical and electrical properties can be tailored for specific device applications. In this study, a TiO₂-based composite photoanode is considered as a polymer-assisted semiconducting thin-film system in which inorganic TiO₂ nanoparticles are processed with organic film-forming components to produce a porous layer for dye-sensitised solar cell application. Nanocrystalline TiO₂ nanoparticles were synthesised from titanium isopropoxide using a …
