Synthesis and Evaluation of New Coumarin Derivatives for Inflammatory Bowel Disease Against DSS-Induced Acute Ulcerative Colitis Mice Model
Abstract: Objective: The discovery of the now numerous mouse models of intestinal inflammation has increased our understanding of the intestinal inflammation that occurs in inflammatory bowel disorders (IBD). This study aimed to investigate the use of a standardized animal model subjected to coumarin derivative treatment, and the action of synthesized molecule administration of dextran sodium sulphate (DSS)- induced colitis in experimental mice. Materials and Methods: We generated a variety of unique …

Exploring the Therapeutic Potential of Phytochemicals in Aloe Barbadensis Miller Through Molecular Docking for Ulcerative Colitis Management
Abstract: Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease characterized by mucosal inflammation of the colon, often associated with immune dysregulation and oxidative stress. Natural compounds have gained significant attention as alternative therapeutic agents due to their efficacy and minimal side effects. Quercetin, a flavonoid abundantly found in Allium cepa (onion), has demonstrated potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. This study employs an in silico approach to evaluate the therapeutic potential …

Orally Dispersible Tablet of Mesalazine: Formulation and Evaluation
Abstract: Oral disintegrating tablets (ODTs) become increasingly more and more popular, particularly among elderly and paediatric patients who have difficulties with swallowing. The 5-aminosalicylic acid compound oral mesalazine, frequently referred to as mesalamine, is used to treat mild to severe ulcerative colitis and has a high percentage of success in causing and establishing response. Mesalazine has a topical therapeutic action at the location of the suffering colonic mucosa. The medication’s disadvantage …

Comprehensive Overview of Carbohydrate Polymers
Abstract: Targeting drug delivery specifically to the colon has become increasingly crucial for treating various colonic diseases like colorectal cancer, amebiasis, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn’s disease. Numerous strategies have been developed for this purpose, including using enzymatically degradable polymers, employing prodrug-based approaches, coating drugs with polymers sensitive to time or pH changes, utilizing osmotically and pressure-controlled delivery systems. Polysaccharides activated by the colon's physiological environment show significant potential as they offer …

An Ayurveda Management of High Level of Fecal Calprotectin – A Single Case Study
Abstract: Calprotectin is protein found in leucocytes. Calprotectin plays a crucial role in various physiological processes, including cell differentiation, immune modulation, tumor development, programmed cell death, and inflammatory responses. Gut inflammation due to various cause like genetic inheritance, changes in microbiota within intestine, defective immune regulation. Also, some infective such as salmonella, E. coli, Cytomegalovirus, Amoebiasis etc., and Non-infective such as Ischaemic colitis, Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Colonic carcinoma etc., can mimic …
