Toxicity Assessment of Pendimethalin with Reference to Biochemical Alteration (Carbohydrate, Lipid) of Fresh Water Fish Channa punctatus (Bloch)
Abstract: Pendimethalin, a weedicide is a potential toxic pollutant, adversely affecting the fauna of aquatic ecosystem. The Channa punctatus were exposed to pendimethalin to determine LC50 values for 24, 48, 72 and 96 h and to study the behavioral changes. The aim of present study was to assess the 96 hours acute toxicity level of pendimethalin. The LC50 was determined by Finnyl’s Probit analysis. According to graphical plots, the 50% mortality …

Biochemical Assessment of Fish Channa punctatus Exposed to Heavy Metal Loaded Waste Water with Serum Biochemistry and Oxidative Stress as Biomarker Responses
Abstract: Due to Rapid industrialization from past two decades, there has been increase in industrial wastes which has been discharged into the nearby water bodies, leading to the damage of the whole ecosystems and marine habitat. These industries possess a potential threat to the aquatic ecosystem besides, its flora and fauna. One such condition has been witnessed in the present study in MIDC Area of Amravati region of Maharashtra India. In …

Pyrethroid Mediated Some Macromolecular and Biochemical Changes in Freshwater Teleost
Abstract: Abstract In present investigation, a freshwater fish Channa punctatus was exposed for 21 days to synthetic pyrethroid malathion at sublethal concentrations of 0.007mg L−1 and 0.093 mg L−1 that represented 10% of the 96 h LC50 of the pesticide for this fish. Tissue samples were collected at the end of the experiment and analyzed to determine oxidant/antioxidants status (catalase, LDH, DNA content, protein content, cortisol, etc.) of the fish. Enzyme …
