Mechanical Characterization of Green Composite Brake Pads Reinforced with Coconut Shell Waste
Abstract: In the present work, coconut shell powder proposed as a replacement material for the eco-friendly brake linings. The composites for brake pad were developed with other sizes of the coconut shell particles, namely (200 µm, 300 µm, 400 µm and 500 µm) The developed samples were evaluated for morphological, mechanical, physical and worability properties. The SEM micrograph proved that the coconut shell particulates are well dispersed in the composite everywhere …

Mechanical Behavioral Analysis of Sugarcane Bagasse, Coconut Fiber and Kevlar Fiber Reinforced Composite with Micrographs
Abstract: Asbestos and alloys are materials that are frequently used as brake pads; however, because these materials pose risks to human health and the environment, including lung cancer, it is necessary to replace the materials used in brake pads. In place of the current brake pads, composite fibers such as kevlar, sugarcane bagasse, and coconut are studied in this study. The procedure of manually laying up composite molding is used to …

Comparative Analysis of Disc Brake Using Eco-Friendly Material
Abstract: Brakes are crucial components for slowing or stopping the vehicle. Almost all vehicles use disc brakes. The working of a disc brake is simple; when the brake pedal is pressed, braking pads are forced mechanically against the rotor or disc on both surfaces. The friction generated between the rotor and brake pads slows down the vehicle. The design and materials of disc brakes play a significant role in their performance. …

Engineering Perspectives: Thermal and Structural Examination of Disc Brakes for Light Vehicles
Abstract: The procedure of braking transforms the kinetic energy of a car into mechanical energy that needs to be released as heat. High temperatures may result from the frictional heat produced at the disc and pad interface during the braking phase. Frictional heat produced on the rotor surface can contribute to an excessive rise in temperature, which can have unfavorable effects including premature wear, brake fluid vaporization (BFV), thermally excited vibrations …
