Effect of Thermal Conditioning - Mechanical Performance of Natural-Synthetic Fiber Hybrid Composites
Abstract: This study investigates the effects of thermal conditioning on the mechanical and thermal properties of banana-glass fibre hybrid composites, focusing on their tensile, flexural, impact strength, and thermal conductivity. Hybrid composites were fabricated with varying banana-to-glass fibre ratios of 70:30, 50:50, and 30:70 using a hand layup technique, followed by thermal conditioning at 60°C, 80°C, and 100°C for a specified duration. Results highlight that the 50:50 composite treated at 80°C …

Investigation of Mechanical Behaviour in Brake Shoe Liner by Using Composite and Nano Materials
Abstract: The mechanical performance of the brake shoe liners dictates the safety and efficiency of the vehicles; thus, brakes are very vital in ensuring controlled deceleration and stopping. In the past few decades, composites have significantly impacted the automotive industry through lighter, stronger, and sturdier alternatives to traditional materials improving overall performance. Nano additives are of key importance in such composites, improving not only the mechanical properties but, more significantly, the …

Experimental analysis of wind turbine blade (HAWT) with recycled carpet waste polymer composite material
Abstract: The term "carpet" is often used interchangeably with "rug," but there is a technical distinction. Rugs are generally smaller and can be easily moved, while carpets are typically larger and cover a significant portion of the floor. Carpets are commonly used to enhance the comfort of indoor spaces, provide insulation, and contribute to the overall design and atmosphere of a room. Polymer composite materials also known as polymer matrix composites …

Comparative Analysis of Natural and Synthetic Fibre-Reinforced Composites: Mechanical Properties, Processing, and Sustainability Considerations
Abstract: The development of fibre-reinforced composites has significantly advanced engineering applications due to their excellent strength-to-weight ratio, corrosion resistance, and versatility. Synthetic fibres such as glass and carbon provide superior mechanical performance, but their production is energy-intensive and environmentally harmful. Natural fibres, including jute, flax, banana, and hemp, offer biodegradability, lower cost, and sustainability benefits, though they often fall short in strength and durability. Hybrid composites frequently demonstrate improved performance by …

Exploring the Mechanical Characteristics of Three Natural Composite Materials (Kenaf, Sisal, and Banana with Almond shell, Glass, and Silicon carbide fillers): A Comparative Evaluation
Abstract: The current global demand for lightweight, long-lasting, and economically efficient materials is of unprecedented magnitude. Industry sectors including aircraft, automotive, construction, and sports are constantly adapting to fulfil these requirements. Natural composites refer to materials obtained from natural sources that utilise two or more separate components to form a material with improved characteristics. In numerous industries, natural composites offer a potential and ecologically sound alternative to synthetic materials by harnessing …

Application of Fruit and Vegetables Peels as Functional Ingredients in Baked Cookies: A review
Abstract: About half of the waste produced by industrial fruit and vegetable manufacture is in the form of peels, cores, pomace, and unripe or damaged fruits and vegetables. Many fruits and vegetables, including citrus, apples, peaches, pears, bananas, pomegranates, berries, mangoes, and sugar beet, have peels, pulp/pomace, and seeds that contain concentrations of phenolics and other phytochemicals that are typically much higher than in the edible tissues of those fruits and …
