Use of LANDSAT ETM + Data for Detection of Prosopis juliflora in Irrigated Zones
Abstract: Prosopis juliflora (PJ) can be used as a relevant indicator for integrated management of irrigated saline soil in arid zones. Remotely Sensed Landsat Enhanced Thematic Mapper Plus (ETM+) dataset was used for detection and delineation of areas under PJ. The vegetation densities were classified using normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) whereas soil moisture levels were estimated based on distribution of soil wetness index (SWI). The classified NDVI map was combined …

Geoinformatics based Micro-Watershed wise Land capability analysis for Sustainable Land Resources Management
Abstract: Land is one of the important component on which physical, economical and social development depends. The land capability classification is the grouping of land units into defined classes based on its capability. It is a broad grouping of soils based on their limitations and is designed to emphasize the hazards in different kinds of soils. It serves as a guide to assess suitability to the land for agricultural crops, grazing …

Lithotriptic Potential of Certain Herbs and its Implications in Human Health
Abstract: Man from his prehistoric hunter gatherer stage to modern day evolution—Homo sapiens has been using various herbal remedies for treatment. Considering the lithotriptic property of root system of plants, plants having such property and its further exploitation for treating renal calculi we have explored in the present research. Interestingly one of the shrubs referred widely in Siddha system of medicine—Indigofera aspalathoides grown in arid zones showed very high lithotriptic activity …

Identification of Groundwater Potential Zone of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Tehsil Using Remote Sensing and GIS Technique
Abstract: Groundwater is one of the most vital and renewable natural resources, playing a key role in sustaining domestic, agricultural, and industrial activities, particularly in semi-arid regions like Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar tehsil in Maharashtra. The growing population, rising water demand, and irregular rainfall patterns have resulted in a pressing need to locate potential groundwater zones for sustainable water management. This research employs Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographic Information System (GIS) techniques to …

A multi-index remote sensing analysis for Characterizing water stress, and environmental indicators in Girnar Wildlife Sanctuary, Gujarat, India
Abstract: Water scarcity is a critical concern in arid and semi-arid regions, with implications for ecological stability, public health, and sustainable resource management. The Girnar Wildlife Sanctuary, Gujarat, presents a case where ecological fragility intersects with cultural and religious pressures. This study employs satellite remote sensing and GIS-based approach to characterize water stress parameters within the sanctuary. Key spectral indices along with Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) were integrated through …
